Visit Cincinnati: Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition

A really cool place we visited while in Cincinnati was Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition.

We happened to be in Ohio on a Sunday, and from 2pm - 8pm Sundays all ages are welcome to this bar, where you can play on all arcade games and consoles for FREE (pinball machines are $.50 per play) with the purchase of drinks or food!  How awesome is that?

They have all sorts of new and classic games, as well as NES, Wii U, XBOX 360, and more. 

 As for the food, we ordered:

The bar food was delish!  The GTS dog is covered with mac and biercheese.

The kids could've played video games until 8pm, but we had a long drive back to Indianapolis.

If you happen to be in Cincinnati in the late afternoon / early evening on a Sunday with the family - take them to Arcade Legacy: Bar Edition!

Visit Cincinnati: Smale Riverfront Park

A fantastic place to take the family while in Cincinnati is Smale Riverfront Park.

It's a gorgeous park along the Ohio River, with scenic views of the Roebling Bridge and Downtown Cincinnati.

The park is huge (two levels), with swings, water features, exercises stations, a playground, carousel, and so much more!

We had so much fun at Smale Riverfront Park!

While in Ohio, we made our ice cream stop at Cincinnati-based Graeter's Ice Cream.

One of the most popular flavors at the shop is Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, so of course I had to give that a try!  It sure was a delightful combination!

My kids' loved the flavors they chose.

Graeter's also offers a lot of other Cincinnati-made goodies, such as chocolates and other confections (which I bought for omiyage).

The employees at Graeter's are very friendly!

Definitely stop at Graeter's for ice cream if you're in Ohio!

Visit Cincinnati: Skyline Chili

I knew I couldn’t leave Cincinnati without trying the must-eat Skyline Chili.

My first thought when our server brought out the 4-way - look at all of that cheese! Same goes with the fries! It was just a mound of cheese!

The 4-way consists of spaghetti, chili, cheese, and onions or beans (the 3-way is without onions or beans, the 5-way includes both onions and beans).

Skyline Chili has a touch of sweetness, but it really is delish.  And if you love cheese, you'll be in cheese heaven!

The Kids' Coney and Hot Doggy are just $3.69 each and includes a drink and a dessert!

Visit Cincinnati: Holtman's Donuts

While in Cincinnati we decided to stop at Holtman’s Donuts. Even though we just had breakfast, we decided to let the kids get some donuts, which they could eat while we walk, in hopes of distracting them from how far our next destination was (it was only a 20-minute walk, however, those traveling with kids know even a 5-minute walk seems like forever to some kids).

Holtman's offers a lot of fun donut varieties!

I really enjoyed the Maple Bacon (love sweet & savory combos!).

The donuts were yummy as expected, and they distracted the kids for only a few minutes, but at least they were full & happy.

Visit Cincinnati: Taste of Belgium

Taste of Belgium is a popular brunch spot in Cincinnati, where the specialties are - no surprise - waffles!

Although they are known for their waffles, I had to try the popular Cincinnati dish, Goetta Hash.

The Goetta Hash consists of eggs, Eckerlin goetta, peppers, onions, and fries. It was sure a lot of food, and it was a fun mish-mash of ingredients (fries for breakfast!).

The McWaffle included an egg, bacon, and Gruyere, and was accompanied by Ohio maple syrup.

The waffles are small, but thick and delish. We ordered a side of eggs for the kids to get their protein.

The Speculoos & Cookie Butter Crepe was like dessert for breakfast (unlike in Hawaii, a lot of people in Cincinnati have never heard of Cookie Butter, according to our server).

Speaking of our server, he was awesome, offering suggestions on not only the food, but of things to do in the area.

If you love brunch as much as I do, be sure to visit Taste of Belgium when in the Cincinnati area!

Visit Cincinnati: American Sign Museum

The American Sign Museum is the largest public museum in the United States to showcase American Sign history spanning more than a century.

Touring the museum was very nostalgic, and a walk down "Main Street" was just a dazzling delight, as neon signs lit up the "town."

The kids got a kick out of seeing the different signs up close.  

You'll find all kinds of signs at the American Sign Museum - neon signs, wooden signs, plastic-faced, and so much more!

It was really interesting to read about where the different signs came from, as well as learn about the evolution of the different types of signs.

There was a great selection of signs, and it was just cool to be able to take a peek into the time periods that each sign belonged to. 

The American Sign Museum was a fun place to visit.  It's a great place to learn about the culture and businesses of the past.  It will definitely be a walk down memory lane for some!
