Sage Creamery

After a disappointing dinner at a restaurant, we decided to not order dessert, and instead get ice cream at Sage Creamery
Cookies + Cream

Ube Crinkle Cookie

Campfire S'mores
It was the best idea.  I love the rich and creamy premium ice cream flavors that incorporate local ingredients.

My fave is the Cookies + Cream - they do not skimp on the cookie pieces!

MOSA - Taiwanese-style Ice Cream in Waikiki!

MOSA has been on my radar for awhile so when we recently staycationed in Waikiki, I knew I had to make a visit. The walk up ice cream shop is is located on 2238 Lau’ula Street and is open daily from 4pm-12am making it the perfect after dinner treat.

The best seller on the menu is the Mosa wrap - up to three flavors of ice cream wrapped in a crepe and topped with peanut brittle shavings. The ice cream paired perfectly with the thin crepe and the ice cream itself was delicious. The peanut brittle shavings were tasty and gave the dessert a nice crunch.

Also on the menu are tanghulu, ice cream, and floats! Service was friendly. Lots of outdoor seating making it a great place to enjoy dessert with a group.

Peanut brittle shaved as a topping.

MOSA Wrap!

A delicious dessert!

Visit Anchorage: Motley Moo

On our last night in Anchorage, we had ice cream at Motley Moo.  The tiny shop in a somewhat inconspicuous space was packed when we arrived.

I like that they offer a single-split, allowing to you to get two flavors for a single scoop option.  The split scoops were generously sized, in my opinion.  I'm guessing the double scoop is huge!

Cookies & Cream + Bananas Chronister
You can't go wrong with Cookies & Cream, and the Bananas Chronister was so good. If you love Bananas Foster, you'll love this flavor.  I especially loved the Bananas Foster toffee pieces throughout.   The flavor is inspired by a band teacher (Mr. Chronister) and a band trip to NOLA, where Bananas Foster originated.

Cocoanutty Cow + Huckleberry Cornbread
Cocoanutty Cow is inspired by Almond Joy.
Shake
The kids got shakes with a flavor of their choosing, such as Sweet Child of Mine (donut ice cream with natural rainbow sprinkles).

The ice cream from Motley Moo did not disappoint!

Visit Anchorage: Little Miller's

While Google Map-searching for ice cream one evening, Little Miller's popped up.  We had passed the drive-thru food shed a few days prior and I noticed they served ice cream, so I was glad they were nearby and I was eager to check it out.

Flavor Burst
They offer soft serve ice cream, and we got the eye-catching Flavor Burst.  The flavors included blue goo, grape, green apple, butter pecan, coconut, mango, banana, and strawberry.
Earth Day Sundae
They also offer drinks and light bites.

Visit Anchorage: Wild Scoops

Our first (yes, first) ice cream stop in Alaska, and the one that would make Alaska "official" on our 50-state adventure, was Wild Scoops.   There are several locations in Anchorage, and it was one of the most frequent results whenever I searched for "ice cream near me."

They craft small batch ice creams with an emphasis on local ingredients.

Sitka Swirl
I love all things salted caramel, so I had the Sitka Swirl - a sweet cream base with an Alaskan sea salted caramel swirl.  It was so creamy, and the sea salted caramel really gave it an added richness.
White Raven
White Raven is a cookies and cream ice cream.
Tang Creamsicle

Redoubt's Revenge
This flavor is spicy, made with cinnamon and cayenne.
Rock on the Wild Side
Rock on the Wild Side incorporated Alaska barley walnut brownies and mini marshmallows.

Wild Scoops is a must visit if you love ice cream!

Visit Catalina Island: Lloyd's of Avalon

Of course we stopped to get some ice cream while on Catalina Island.  We ended up at Lloyd's of Avalon, where one of the employees told us they source the ice cream from various vendors (so it's not housemade).

Cookie Monster

Mocha Almond Fudge

Bubble Gum

Honey Churro
I had the Honey Churro, which was a little too sweet for my liking.

Everyone else loved the ice cream flavors they chose, however.

The ice cream definitely helped to beat the Catalina Island heat!

Castaways Ice Cream

After a long day at a Robotics competition, our team stopped by Castaways Ice Cream, and it was the perfect way to wind down and celebrate the end of the season together.

Castaways focuses on island-inspired flavors made in-house, and creating a space that feels welcoming and fun. I tried the lychee mochi flavor—creamy, lightly sweet, and studded with chewy bits of mochi. A total win.

They truly mean it when they say samples are unlimited. Our kids definitely took advantage of that, and our server was more than happy to oblige—never rushed and always cheerful. Outstanding customer service. They also make cookies in-house, which you can add to your ice cream, and you can build full ice cream sundaes or choose toppings à la carte. Milkshakes are available too, including fun cereal-infused options.

Whether you’re flying solo or with a crowd, it’s a place to enjoy ice cream and good vibes.

Visit Utah: Bumbleberry Gift Shop & Bakery

Bumbleberry is a gift shop / bakery / ice cream shop in Springdale right near Zion National Park.

They make a popular Bumbleberry Pie (you have to read their website to find out what bumbleberry is), but we went specifically for ice cream.

Of course we had to get some Bumbleberry Ice Cream!

Bumbleberry Cobbler
\The Bumbleberry Cobbler had pieces of pie crust, and I loved that extra buttery texture.

Checkerboard Mesa
The Checkerboard Mesa was a brown sugar flavored ice cream with peanut butter, chocolate pretzels, and pretzel bark.
Emerald Pools

Emerald Pools was a mint ice cream with mint cookie pieces.
Bumbleberry Cheesecake

Cream cheese ice cream was combined with bumbleberry flavoring and cheesecake pieces.

Bumbleberry is a great stop post-Zion-hike for ice cream, souvenir shopping, and restrooms!

It was my kids' first visit to Hilo (!), and naturally I took them somewhere to get a sweet treat - Kozmic Cones!

They all got Orbits, which were ice cream treats with mix-ins.
M&M Orbits

Reese's Orbits
They all got small Orbits, which were plenty, IMO.

Ululani's Hawaii Shave Ice - Pearl City

After dinner at Black Angus Steakhouse, my friends and I opted to skip dessert and
head over to Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice. Located near Waimalu Time’s, this is one of
four locations on Oahu with the others being located in Waikiki, Kapahulu, and
Waimanalo.

Ululani’s offers shave ice in two sizes with over 60 handcrafted syrups using real fruits,
premium purees, ultra-purified water, and pure cane sugar. The shave ice itself is so
fine that it tastes creamy.

On this occasion, I opted to get a single scoop of Roselani’s Kona Mud Pie topped with
their fresh mochi, but I want to come back to try their Halo Halo!

Grab the cutest shirts and totes!

They are open daily from 11am to 9pm and Saturday and Sundays from 10:30am to
9pm.
