Our visit to Round 1 Stadium Sennichimae was completely spontaneous. I Googled activities near our hotel, and found Round 1, which seemed like something the kids would enjoy.
Oddly enough, we passed by it a few nights prior and had no idea what a cool place it was!
The first couple of floors are crane games, and then another floor is an arcade, but what we went there for was the Spo-cha. For a flat fee (it was 2890 yen pp for 3 hours when we went; student discounts were available, but they needed to see a valid school ID, which we did not have with us; there is also "free-time" where you have unlimited hours until 6am), you have access to multi-levels of activities - bowling, roller skating, archery, soccer, batting cages, an arcade, karaoke rooms, go-karts, darts, table tennis, and so much more!
Note: Kids ages 16 to 18 can visit until 10pm as long as accompanied by a parent or guardian. If under 16 with no parent or guardian, they are not allowed after 7pm.
In the arcade in the Spo-cha (which is different from the arcade on the second level), you don't pay anything additional. All the games are included!
The price of the admission alone was worth the unlimited arcade play, in my opinion.
And it was definitely worth it just for the karaoke room.
For several activities (table tennis, karaoke, etc.) there are time limits if people are waiting (you can set a physical timer which will beep).
The only negative at Round 1 had nothing to do with the place itself, but is reflective of why Japan (like many other places around the world) have a disdain for tourists . . . an entitled adult tourist cut in front of us at Bubble Soccer and joined the group that was playing ahead of us by just forcing his way onto the field. He wouldn't get off the field when the timer went off indicating it was our turn, and proceeded to act obnoxious - swearing, jumping on one of the bubbles when my kid was in it, etc. - I nearly had to track down an employee to get assistance! Thankfully he left (although in a tantrum).
Despite that, there were no issues.
It wasn't very crowded while we were there.
Although there are several other Round 1 locations in Japan, from what I read, they do not have as many activities as this location (some in our family went to one in Odaiba, and the number of activities were very limited).
You must exit before your 3 hours are up, otherwise you will be charged an extra fee.
Upon exiting, we each got a ticket for a free play on a crane game.
Round 1 was so much fun for the entire family - we wished that we had more time at Round 1!
While in California, we sought out somewhere air-conditioned to spend some time at to retreat from the heat, and we ended up at Neon Retro Arcade in Pasadena.
For $10 an hour (or $25 for an all-day pass with in & out privileges), you can play pinball, retro video games, or even newer games on more modern consoles.
From Tetris to Tron, Millipede to Ms. Pac-Man, you can take your pick from a number of games to play.
There are no food and drinks served in the arcade, but they do have limited snacks for purchase.
The kids had a blast, and it was a fun, cool way to spend an hour!

A couple of months ago, we visited Wild Tiki Fun Zone's location at Koko Marina Center in Hawaii Kai (click here to see my review). My twin sons had a blast and kept asking me to go again. Luckily, the folks at Wild Tiki Fun Zone invited us to check out their location at Dole Cannery. Being that the twins had so much fun at the Hawaii Kai location, how could I pass up this opportunity?
The Dole Cannery location is really different from the Koko Marina location. For starters, they have decent-sized seating area for customers (the adults will really appreciate this!).

We tried a round of laser tag. At this location, you wear vests, and there are a lot more players that can play at one time.
It's Aztec-themed and full of lots of corners and walls to hide behind. Because it was dark and there were a lot more players playing at one time, it was harder for my boys to get the hang of it. But they still had a lot of fun.
Gelati is Rita's top seller - it's layers of Rita's frozen custard and Italian ice - a must-try!
The Rita's Italian ice is very smooth and made with real fruit. It comes in many different refreshing flavors, and they're all trans-fat free.
The frozen custard is also very smooth, creamy, and rich. When you put the two together (Italian ice + frozen custard), it's the perfect refresher.
After our brief pit stop at the snack bar, we headed back out to the arcade for more fun, starting with air hockey ....
then we tried a round of Pirate-themed miniature golf. It was the boys' first time playing mini-golf, and they loved it. The black lights made it fun and there were some obstacles on the course that made it challenging for us adults.
We spent over three hours at Wild Tiki Fun Zone today. As the saying goes ... time flies when you're having fun!
Since our visit, the boys have been talking about having their next birthday party here. Wild Tiki Fun Zone has a variety of different packages to fit any budget. The best part? They do all the set up and clean up! Every package includes a private area, dedicated host, place settings, clean up, validated parking, VIP activity fast pass, at least 2 rounds of a private activity (mini golf or laser tag), and a gift certificate for the birthday child.
