Visit Wisconsin: Carson Park Playground

One of the best playgrounds we have ever been to was the Carson Park Playground in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

It was enormous, with all sorts of fun slides, gyms, tunnels, and swings.

There were numerous places to zip, climb, spin, and even play music!

The only bummer is that we went there mid-day, when it was very hot, so our time at Carson Park Playground was very short.

If you're in Eau Claire with the kids, the Carson Park Playground is a must-stop!

Visit Wisconsin: Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox Statue

There was not much to do during our short day-trip to Wisconsin, but one thing we did was visit the Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox Statue, which fronts the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum.
Paul Bunyan was a popular subject in Wisconsin logging lore, which makes him an icon throughout the state.

We took a photo in front of the statue, as well as took a peek in the museum to see if there were any souvenirs we could buy (and to use the restroom).  We didn't have time to tour the museum itself, but if you have the time, the staff is eager to welcome you!

Visit Wisconsin: Randy's Family Restaurant

While in Wisconsin we dined at Randy's Family Restaurant.

This local eatery is known for their chicken gizzards and pie, so I had to try both!

Vanilla Pudding Samples
White Cheddar Cheese Curds
Cheese Curds are a must in Wisconsin, and these White Cheddar bites were yummy!

Since we dined on a Friday, I opted for the Friday Pick Two, and chose the Chicken Gizzards and the Fish.
Friday Pick Two
This was the first time I ever tried Chicken Gizzards, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  In fact, it was more a mental issue with me.  The Fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned!

My husband ordered the Cheeseburger, French Fries, and a Malt Combo.

Cheeseburger
Kids meals are just $3.99, and include a French fries and a side, as well as a drink and a dessert.  What a steal!

Sides include cottage cheese, peaches, and applesauce.

Mac & Cheese
Mini Corn Dogs

Cookie
Randy's is known for their fresh-baked pies, so of course I couldn't leave without trying one.  I opted for my fave - Banana Cream!

We had a trainee for a server, and although she was very friendly, there were a few service issues, but overall we had a nice meal in Wisconsin!

Visit Wisconsin: Olson's Ice Cream

Our ice cream stop in Wisconsin was Olson's Ice Cream.

Crafting artisan ice cream since 1944, Olson's just recently opened up a new location in Eau Claire, and we lined up with many other ice cream-lovers for a scoop (or two) of this popular ice cream.

The rich and creamy ice cream, is sure to satisfy.  My husband and I shared the Candy Bar Classic + Crunchy Munchy.

In addition to ice cream, Olson's also serves deli fare and homemade waffles, but you must try the ice cream (or maybe try a waffle topped with ice cream!).
