Pig and the Lady Curbside Take-out

Food has always been one of my five love languages, and so for our 13th wedding anniversary, I surprised the husband with take-out from the Pig and the Lady.

Not only does the food never disappoint, but they offer online ordering (which allows you to place your order ahead of time for pick up later on), and curbside pick up, which is a huge plus since they are located in the heart of downtown/Chinatown where street parking can be hard to find or inconvenient (especially if you have kids with you).

The Le Fried Chicken Wings is a-must at the Pig and the Lady. The wings are always crispy, moist, and nicely seasoned and spiced.

The Pho French Dip is one of their signature menu items - 12 hr slow roasted beef brisket, spicy hoisin, thai basil chimichurri, sauteed bean sprout & onion, cilantro, toasted La Tour baguette, served with their signature pho 75 broth for dipping.  You have the option of adding a side of noodles, and we always do, because my son loves their pho noodles and soup.

I have been wanting to try their Bo Kho Tagliatelle, a pasta dish that they added to the menu late last year - it was sooooo good! It's made with stewed Maui venison, slow cooked Kaahumanu carrots, lemon grass, Vietnaese spices, and finished off with fried Thai Basil leaves and ComtĂ© cheese.

The Pig and the Lady is also open for dine-in. Reservations are highly recommended.

Click here to see the menu, book a reservation, or to place an order. You can also find them at the Farmers Markets at the Blaisdell on Wednesdays, Kailua on Thursdays, and Kapiolani Community College on Saturdays.

Chicken & Brisket

A friend sent me the link to Chicken and Brisket's profile page on Instagram, and I placed an order online within minutes of seeing their post, announcing $5 off their classic fried chicken, this week only from 2:30 - 4:30 pm (must use discount code). They described their $10 boxes as consisting of "over 2 pounds (12 crispy & juicy pieces) of breaded deep fried chicken thighs + choice of dipping sauce.

I scheduled my pick up for 2:30, and received confirmation of my order via email.  Then about half an hour before my scheduled pick up time, they sent me a text with directions for curbside pick up.

The drive home was tortuous - the aroma of fresh fried chicken had me wanting to open the box on the way home so badly!

When I first opened my box of chicken on the kitchen counter, I was impressed with how neatly packed the chicken was.  And on top of that, the fried chicken was still crispy and hot!

After sampling a few bites of the chicken on its own, I proceeded to open my container of teri-mayo dipping sauce (they have 10 dipping sauces to chose from; one is included with your order) and from then on, each bite of chicken was preceded by a dip of sauce. I usually prefer to eat my fried chicken 'naked' (without sauce), but for some reason I kept dipping and dipping my chicken in this sauce!

I also tried the brisket fried noodles, since I am a fan of any kind of noodles. It came with a generous portion of brisket, char siu, kamaboko, cabbage, onions, and carrots. It was a bit greasy, but still delicious!!

Teddy's Bigger Burgers Take-Out

One of my go-to places when I'm craving tots is Teddy's Bigger Burgers.

I ordered tots with bacon, cheese sauce, and caramelized onions.

I also ordered onion rings, chicken strips and fries, kid burgers, grilled chicken sandwich, and a crispy chicken sandwich with bacon, pepperjack, and caramelized onions (I think Teddy's has a great crispy chicken sandwich).

You can order online and select curbside pick-up.

Mad Bene Takeout

It was the weekend before my birthday, and I decided to start the celebration early with take-out from Mad Bene. This restaurant became my absolute favorite Italian eatery on Oahu from the first time I dined here, and it has remained on the top of my list ever since.

I placed my takeout order online, and picked up the order curb-side. I love curb-side pick up!  Here's what I ordered:

Eggplant Parm Sticks

Rigatoni Bolognese

Linguine Scampi

As usual, Mad Bene delivered an amazing meal and I would recommend these dishes if you're planning to eat here soon!

Chopchop Rotisserie

The hubby and I wanted to eat something special for Easter Sunday, so I placed an order for the Family Meal Prime Rib from Chopchop Rotisserie in Waikiki.

I placed my order in advanced and selected my sides. Each family meal comes with choice of starch, one hot side, and one cold side. The Prime Rib meal, which is offered only on Sundays, comes with 1 lb of slow roasted prime rib, au jus, horseradish sauce, and side salad.

starch: potatoes

hot side: mac n  cheese

cold side: mushrooms

1 lb of slow roasted prime rib

delicious!
This meal was definitely large enough for two adults, with leftovers for the next day. The mushrooms had a lot of garlic. The potatoes were delicious!   I was even impressed with the mac n cheese, which I normally don't eat, but did this time around because my sons didn't want to try them.

Next time we're going to try the beef short ribs with hoisin sauce!
