Dinner at New Truffle Restaurant Margotto Hawaii

Presentation of truffles

Japan's Margotto e Baciare Group opened Margotto Hawaii in June.  The truffle centric French-Japanese restaurant has generated much buzz among Hawaii's foodies who want to experience the finest truffles from around the world.  To be honest, I wasn't confident I would love Margotto only because I am not big on truffles, but I am glad I tried because it was one of my favorite meals this year.

Our table of 4 had the signature degustation meal of 7-8 courses priced at $100 per person with the option of an additional caviar course and upgrading our pork course to the A5 Wagyu.  There is also the truffles supplement based on weight and market price.  The recommendation was 20 grams of truffle per person, approximately $75.  However, we decided to share one truffle for the table which was perfect for me.  For truffle fans, you probably should get your own.

I am not exaggerating when I say I loved everything because I did.  Each dish was delicious and I enjoyed the flavors which were kept simple so the truffle was enhanced.  My very favorite dishes were the Mushroom, Waimanalo TKG Egg, Pasta, and the Akitakomachi.

The experience at Margotto is very special and I highly recommend you to try it.  The restaurant has an amazing wine program and they are Hawaii's first Krug Ambassador.  They have also recently launched a series of special dinners with Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya called "Chuck's Supper Club."

March Specials at Choco le`a

Choco le`a crafts the loveliest, most delicious confections you'll find anywhere, and I was thrilled to have been gifted some of the March specials!

The 4-piece Girl's Day Fresh Nisshodo Mochi Truffle Box includes one each of the following flavors: Strawberry, Orange, Blueberry, Original (strawberry is my fave!).

The 9-piece Girl's Day Truffle Box includes three each of the following flavors: Black Sesame Crunch, Hojicha, Yuzu.

The Black Sesame Crunch was my fave of the three, but they were all so delightful.

Dark Chocolate-Dipped Mango

When I visited the Choco le`a shop, it was too hard to resist getting some chocolate treats for myself and the kids!

I got some Chocolate Dipped OREOs for the kids, and a PB Crunch for myself.

PB Crunch

I may or may not have eaten the entire PB Crunch bar in one sitting.

Each confection is expertly crafted, and I just love how even the packaging itself just evokes excitement - you know something spectacular is inside!

There are so many reasons to celebrate in March - Girl's Day, International National Women's Day, Women's History Month, National OREO Day - so many excuses to indulge!

Choco le`a always has the most special treats that are perfect for all occasions, and don't forget to gift the most important person of all - yourself!

Choco le'a Celebrates Four Years in Manoa

Choco le`a, one of Hawaii's favorite gourmet chocolate companies, is celebrating their 4th birthday by giving away one 4 piece truffle box EVERYDAY for the month of September! All you need to do is follow @ChocoleaHawaii on Instagram, look for their daily contest post, post a comment telling them your favorite thing about Choco le`a, and tag four friends. One lucky person will be selected each day!

I love Choco le`a truffles, and so I entered their contest every day, and one day I received a direct message from them notifying me that I won!

Today I stopped by their retail shop in Manoa to pick up my prize.

There are over 20 flavors to choose from. Can you imagine narrowing it down to just 4?!

Here's what I ended up selecting:

My truffles were nicely packaged in this custom box.

The box was half empty by the time I got to my car.

And in case you're wondering what their top seller is ....

Cookie Dough Truffles

I love making truffles for the holidays.  They are just so indulgent!

I usually make OREO Truffles, but I decided to make some Cookie Dough Truffles.

I used the cookie dough recipe from these Cookie Dough Pretzel Bites, rolled the dough into balls (about 2 tsp worth of dough), dipped the balls in melted chocolate (I used 1 cup chocolate chips + 1 tsp shortening), and sprinkled crushed OREOs on top.

Refrigerate the truffles for at least 30 minutes before serving.

YUM!
