Visit Alaska: Reindeer Farm

While in Alaska, we only had one thing on the itinerary (a glacier cruise), and we just went on random explorations on all the other days.

One day we found ourselves close to Palmer, so we went to the Reindeer Farm, where they not only raise reindeer, but also other rescued and adopted animals.
You go on a self-guided tour where there are educational encounters along the way, during which time you can feed some of the animals (moose, reindeer, bison, yaks, alpacas, and highland cattle).

I sure learned a lot about the animals, and feeding them was quite the experience.

On the farm you'll also find a reptile house, a play area for kids, lots of photo ops, and a fun "Who's Your Reindeer" game that my kids could not stop playing!

It was so fun getting up close to the animals, especially ones we rarely see, and feeding them.

It was a great, impromptu stop!

Visit Indiana: Holly's Restaurant & Pub

We stopped by the family-friendly eatery Holly's Restaurant & Pub in Indiana while driving from Michigan to Chicago.

Most of the family ordered some great looking sandwiches and burgers.
Chicago Grill
The Chicago Grill consisted of thinly-sliced roast beef, sour cream, tomato, and green onions.

Bacon & Cheeseburger

The McKenzie Burger
The McKenzie Burger was topped with BBQ sauce, Swiss, bacon, and onion straws.

The Holly's Combo
I shared The Holly's Combo with one of my kids - mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, loaded potato skins, and onion rings.

It was a lot of yummy food perfect for sharing.

Service was great at Holly's - it was an ideal spot for a road trip lunch!

Visit Washington: Zip's Drive-in

Halfway through the drive from Post Falls, Idaho to Seattle, Washington, we stopped at Zip's Drive-in in Ritzville, Washington to grab some lunch.

Kids Corn Dog

Crispy Chicken Sandwich

I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which was good and just what I needed to fill me up for the rest of the drive back to Seattle.

Little Zipper Fun Meals come with a choice of Cheeseburger, Hamburger, Popcorn Chicken, or Corn Dog, along with Fries, Drink, and a Prize (Lollipop).

I figured the Corn Dog would be easiest for my kids to eat on the road in the car, and they all loved the huge star-shaped Lollipop.

Zip's Drive-In was a convenient stop offering quick, casual eats for our road trip!
