Visit Coeur d'Alene: Meltz

Once in a while, when I make grilled cheese for the kiddos, I'll make one for myself too. My kids love eating grilled cheese, and there's just something irresistible about a buttery, cheesy, gooey grilled cheese sandwich.

With that in mind, I knew my kids would love Meltz while we were in Idaho, but I had no idea how much I would end up loving it too!

Kid Comfort
Pepperosa Pizza
Potsticker Meltz
Burger Bomber with Housemade Chips
Kale, Jalapeno Bacon, Creamy Boursin Dip
I ordered the Extreme (over the top Grilled Cheese creation) Potsticker Meltz.  The ingredients that make up the Potsticker Meltz sounded kind of odd for a Grilled Cheese Sandwich - Provolone, Pepperjack, Pork, Peppers, Garlic, Scallions, Soy, Sesame, Fried Wontons, Sriracha-Chili Aioli, but it turned out to be so amazing, especially when dipped in the Potsticker Sauce!

This 2013 National Grilled Cheese Invitational winning sandwich was absolutely delish.  My husband even liked it better than his Burger Bomber.

The Burger Bomber was basically a Burger and Fries (yes, Fries!) in a Grilled Cheese - White and Orange Cheddar, Burger, Bacon, Fries, Tomato, Red Onion, Pickles, and Bomb Sauce.

My husband ordered a combo, which included Housemade Idaho Russet Potato Chips made with an Extreme Seasoning Blend.  The chips were the perfect accompaniment! We also decided to try a Kale, Jalapeno Bacon, Creamy Boursin Dip for the Chips (can also be used to dip the Grilled Cheese), and it had a nice kick to it, but it was pretty pricey ($2.25 for a tiny container of dip).  The chips were really good by themselves, so it's okay to skip the dip (but if you want to indulge, go for the dip).

The kids enjoyed the Kid Comfort Grilled Cheese - just a simple, yet yummy sandwich made with "Oozing Orange and White American" Cheeses.  My middle son opted for the Pepperosa Pizza - Mozzarella, Provolone, Fontina, Parmesan, Pepperoni, Creamy Tomato, Roasted Garlic, and Basil Sauce combined to make for a delicious Grilled Cheese.

The sandwiches were pretty huge, and unless you are extremely hungry, I'd recommend just 1/2 a sandwich per person.  Along with some chips, you'll be more than satisfied.

Meltz is a small shop that offers Grilled Cheese sandwiches that are big in flavor, and they served up my favorite meal of our entire trip through the Pacific Northwest!
