New at Zippy's: Keiki Meals To-Go and Capsule Toys!

Thank you to our sponsor for the complimentary certificates to use towards today's food purchases.

Now available at Zippy's - Keiki Meals to-go! Keiki Meals are priced lower than mini plates, but can be enjoyed by all! Plus, each meal comes with a coin for a special capsule toy that makes it meal time even more fun for kids (and adults if that's your thing!).

I am so excited that Zippy's has made their Keiki Meals available at the take-out counter. The portion size is perfect for my kids, and they come with a small toy! The prices are also reasonable!

The Keiki Meals come in 6 varieties:

  • Spaghetti with Garlic Bread
  • Mac & Cheese
  • Saimin
  • Hamburger Combo (fries)
  • Grilled Cheese combo (fries)
  • Chicken & Spam Musubi

According to my son who ordered the Keiki Saimin:

"It tasted good and flavorful! The noodles were cooked perfectly. The toy was actually pretty good! It was a pop-it shirt! I'll take it!"

The other son got some Zippy's mini stickers with his Keiki Meal!

Don't forget that every Keiki Meal comes with a token or coupon for a toy, whether you dine-in or take-out. Ask for one if they don't automatically give it to you.

Keiki Meals are great on those days when we're eating on the go or don't have the time or energy to cook. I'm also considering ordering the Keiki Chicken & Spam Musubi meals the next time we're on snack duty for the boys' sports teams.

We will be back for more Keiki Meals and capsule toys!

Dat Cajun Guy

Ever since the first time I visited Dat Cajun Guy (when they were a food truck!), I've been a fan.  I absolutely love Cajun food, and Dat Cajun Guy served up some of the best cajun food I've ever tried.

Since they opened up their restaurant, I've tried the breakfast menu, and although I love breakfast, I can't resist their Gumbalaya - Jambalaya with a scoop of Gumbo.

Gumbalaya

It is so amazing.  It's hearty, comforting, with just enough kick to it.

The Brisket Po'Boy was a special of the day.

The Fried Pickles were still addicting, and I loved the Hush Puppies.

There are two Kids Meal options - Fried Fish and Fried Popcorn Shrimp.  Both are just $5.95, and include a side and a drink.

Service was great and the food did not disappoint. No matter which side of the island you're on, it's worth it to get to Dat Cajun Guy in Haleiwa for some delicious Cajun food!

Keiki Meal at Restaurant Kunio

The last time we went to Restaurant Kunio, we didn't bother with ordering the keiki meal for the kiddos.  At the time, they were all fairly little, with appetites to match, so we just shared food with them.  Fast forward a couple of years, and their appetites have since grown, so on a recent visit each of the kids ordered the Keiki Meal!

It's a lot of food for just under $11 - Chicken Teriyaki, Gyoza, Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura, Salad, Tamago, Cone Sushi, Rice, and Ice Cream.

I ordered a combination teishoku, which comes with Miso Soup and Appetizers.
I got my usual - Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki.  My two favorite things to order at Kunio.  Everything is so tasty!

My husband got the Spicy Ahi Bowl.

It took a while for him to get the Spicy Ahi Bowl because of orders that were already pending with the sushi bar, so he ended up taking it home to eat, and helped the boys eat whatever they couldn't finish from their keiki meals (which was mostly the Shrimp Tempura).

Waterman Bar & Grill at Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina

We spent a lot of time at the pools at the Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, and when the hunger hit, we ordered poolside eats from Waterman Bar & Grill.

Fresh Fish Burger
My husband and I shared the Fresh Fish Burger.  The fish that day was Mahi, and the sandwich was satisfying and delicious.  The Mahi was seasoned perfectly, and it was topped with a charred holoholo corn relish lime aioli that was so good - I could've easily just eaten the corn by itself!

Kids meals are a deal at just $8 for a main, side, and dessert!

All Beef Hot Dog with French Fries

Shrimp Scampi with Brown Butter Corn on the Cobb

Chocolate Brownie

Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream

Although there were a few errors with our orders, the staff quickly remedied them without any issues.

For instance, I ordered Onion Rings with the Fish Burger, but we got Fries instead.  The attendant apologized and promptly returned with the Onion Rings.

One of the kids meals was missing the watermelon slices, and I advised the attendant he could just bring it out with the dessert, even though he insisted it would be no problem to go back and get some right away.

When it was time for dessert, the watermelon slices did arrive, but instead of two orders of brownies and one order of ice cream, we received one order of brownies, and one order of brownies topped with ice cream.  The attendant apologized once again, and I told him it was no problem and I'd just take the ice cream off of the brownie, but he ended up returning with another order of brownies, and a bowl of ice cream!

Ice cream by the pool!
Mistakes happen, but seeing how apologetic the attendant was and how he went above and beyond to remedy the situations without any hesitation did not surprise me.  It's just an example of the stellar service at Four Seasons Resorts.

Ricado's Italian Restaurant

My last post of Ricado's Italian Restaurant was published about a year-and-a-half ago, and I could really start off this post the exact same way:

"I love Ricado's Italian Restaurant. It's the first place I ever tried Chicken Saltimbocca, and it's the only dish I've ever ordered when dining there."

I've gone to Ricado's three times within the past year, and yes, I've ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca each time - twice with linguine, once with roasted potatoes.  It is just so good!

On my most recent visit with @darayoung, we both ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca (I ordered it with potatoes, she ordered it with linguine).

Chicken Saltimbocca - with Linguine; with Roasted Potatoes

Breaded chicken is topped with prosciutto, eggplant, cheese, mushrooms, and an amazing Marsala wine butter sauce.

So delicious!
The bread was good too!

The service was not as good as usual - probably because there were two large parties, but fortunately the service is usually great whenever I dine there.

On another visit with @nanigurl808 and @mamookids, both @mammokids and I ordered the Saltimbocca with linguine.

@nanigurl808 ordered the Sicilian Chicken, which she loved.

My son had the kids Penne Cream Sauce, but he hardly touched it because he ate so much bread!

I've had Chicken Saltimbocca dishes elsewhere on Oahu, and although I've tried some great dishes, to me - none can compare to Ricado's!
