Visit Hilo: Cupcakes, BOOM!

I'm not a huge cupcake fan, so I didn't have any desire to visit Cupcakes, BOOM! despite being having such a sweet tooth, but I finally visited when I needed to pick up some treats for our team.

They have a dazzling display of cupcakes, a rainbow of macarons, as well as brownies, Rice Krispies treats, and so much more!

I regret not having gone sooner, because Cupcakes, BOOM! has so many goodies!

They had the cutest Chocolate Covered Strawberry cupcakes!

I got the Chantilly Brownie for myself, and it was so yummy!  It was such a huge piece, and it lasted me for days.

The kids loved the Rice Krispies treats!

Cupcakes, BOOM! has the perfect sweet treat to bring a smile to anyone's face!

Visit Hilo: 808 Sweets Shack

I'm always game to check out new and new-to-me sweets spots, and I recently found out about 808 Sweets Shack.

It's a small shop that, at the time of my visit, featured mostly cupcakes, along with a few bar desserts.

I decided to get cupcakes - Dreamsicle, Chocolate Decadence, and Haupia.
Dreamsicle
I thought the Dreamsicle was yummy.  I normally don't like frosting, but the Dreamsicle flavored frosting was so good (I love all things Dreamsicle / Creamsicle), and the cupcake itself was moist.

Visit Waco: Silos Baking Co. at Magnolia

I'm not the biggest cupcake fan, but I tried one of the best cupcakes ever after being influenced by a billboard for cupcakes, a long line for the cupcakes, and some Instagram followers who encouraged me to stand in the long line, which was for Silos Baking Co. at Magnolia in Waco.

Since I was in Waco I thought I may as well give the bakery a try.

I'm glad I stood in line, because it took just 10 minutes to get through the door of this very popular bakery (don't let a long line deter you!).  I ordered a Spring Box of cupcakes, along with The Silo Cookies.

The Spring Box consisted of: Silobration, Strawberries ‘N Cream, Lemon Lavender, Carrot Cake, Toasted Coconut, and Wedding Cake Cupcakes (definitely get this box if you can't decide on what to order, and it's a $4 savings (cupcakes are $4 each).

The cupcakes were the best I ever had.  The frosting was so light and creamy, and the cupcakes moist and fluffy.  I had the Lemon Lavender, and it was amazing.

The Silo Cookie was enormous (and just $3), and full of oatmeal chocolate chip cookie + peanut butter chips & walnuts.

The Silo Cookie

I would absolutely stand in that line again!

Pua Cake Studio

I love all the new small businesses opening up in Wahiawa.  One such business is Pua Cake Studio.  We had been invited to try them out (read Nadia's review here), and @melissa808 would always rave about them, so I was super excited to finally stop in.

I got chocolate, peanut butter, strawberry, and liliko`i cupcakes.  They were moist and yummy!

I also got cookies - Toffee, Chocolate Chip, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.

My fave was the Toffee!

Definitely check out Pua Cake Studio for some sweet treats while in Wahiawa!

Visit New Jersey: House of Cupcakes

Although I'm not a huge cupcake fan, I still went into House of Cupcakes because they sell all sorts of sweets!

The Cupcake Wars winners offers chocolate-covered confections and cookies.

I bought some Sprinkle Pretzels for the kids, and Chocolate Chip Cookies for myself

The kids loved the pretzels, and I absolutely loved the cookies!  Warm them up in the microwave for a few seconds, and they are soft, gooey, chewy, and so good!

Visit House of Cupcakes for more than just cupcakes!

Pua Cake Studio Open in Wahiawa + Nordstrom Pop Up Nov 6

Pua Cake Studio is a bakery in Wahiawa that softly opened in September. The pretty cake shop specializes in handcrafted buttercream flower cakes and more. I got the chance to meet owner and baker, Jayme Choi, and was gifted a box of her delicious cupcakes.

I arrived just as Jayme was putting the finishing touches on a customized cake.

Pua Cake Studio's cakes are made from scratch and use natural ingredients. The cakes are made with real butter, fresh eggs, cream and milk. I can attest that the cakes are just as good as they look. I am a cake person and I loved how moist the cupcakes were. The buttercream was rich and smooth in texture. I liked how the flavors were subtle in the frosting which complemented the cupcakes nicely.

A pack of cupcakes. The flowers are so pretty and look so real!

Our taste testing in progress: Lilikoi Passionfruit, Strawberry, Vanilla,
Salted Caramel, Mocha Coffee, and Chocolate.

The kids and I really enjoyed the cupcakes and are happy that Pua Cake Studio is just ten minutes away. For those of you that live in town, you are in for a treat as it was just announced they will be at Nordstrom Ala Moana on Saturday, Nov 6 from 11am to 3pm! They will be passing out free samples so you can taste before you make a purchase. Flower cupcake flavor samplers in 6 packs and Pumpkin Spice cupcakes in 4 packs will be available.

Baked by Beri Pop-Up at Ala Moana Center

Baked By Beri, a cupcake business operated by a 17 year old (!!), is currently a pop-up shop at Ala Moana Center for the month of July and August.

My sweet tooth led me to her pop up shop on opening day, and good thing I went early, because she sold out later that day before closing time.

The three flavors offered on opening day was vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Of course, I had to try one of each.

Unfortunately they didn't quite stay intact during the ride home, but presentation didn't matter to me since these were just for me and the twins.

The strawberry one was my favorite, since it came with a white chocolate covered strawberry on top. All of the cupcakes were very moist and topped with a generous amount of frosting.

Congratulation to this 17 year old for the opening of her first pop-up shop in a major shopping mall! That's quite an accomplishment for someone her age, and I can't wait to see where she takes this!

Sugar Coated Hawaii Relocated to Wahiawa

One day last year, in the midst of the pandemic, I went to Sugar Coated Hawaii in Mililani to pick up some treats for a friend.

But they had shut down!

It was so sad.

Fortunately, as I was going through Wahiawa one day, I saw they had opened up shop there, and I made it a point to go visit them soon after.

They offer the same yummy cupcakes (above is Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Sundae, Cookies & Creme, and Red Velvet Cookies & Creme), donuts, and other treats, including one of the best OREO Cheesecakes ever!

Online ordering is available at https://www.clover.com/online-ordering/sugar-coated-wahiawa-wahiawa.

New to Pearlridge: Creative Cakes and Snacks

Lucky for us we couldn’t find parking near Bravo’s on our way to pick up dinner.  Since we ended up parking closer to Bed Bath and Beyond, we passed Creative Cakes and Snacks.  The colorful storefront drew us in to find a number of sweet treats waiting for us.  They offer cupcakes, cheesecakes, macarons, brownies, and ice cream. Most impressive is there wall of ice cream toppings!

Acai bowls on the menu too!

A sweet tooth’s dream come true.

They had me at Kit Kat.

Since I had promised Lauren we would bake cupcakes at home, she passed on dessert.  But I just couldn’t resist this Kit Kat cupcake! The chocolate frosting was delicious!  Glad to see another small business in the neighborhood!  Find them open Monday through Saturday 10am to 9pm and closed on Sundays.

Flour + Butter Bakery

Flour + Butter Bakery opened up a few years ago, and we were delighted they were a Hawaii Mom Blog Treat Yourself luncheon sponsor.

They donated the cutest (and yummiest) cupcakes to our event:

When I went to pick up the cupcakes, my kids couldn't resist the confections, so we bought:

Cotton Candy + Fruity Pebbles Macarons

Pistachio + PB&J Macarons

The Chocoholic Cupcake
The little shop delivers such delicious treats!

ONO2GUYS

I first head about ONO2GUYS from Nat.  She has visited this new bakery a few times after they opened up in March in Kaneohe.

This literal 2-guy operation specializes in Korean-style sweet and savory treats.

Korean-Style Sausage Pizza

Double Sausage

Mandu Bun

Curry Bun

Choco Cupcakes

Sweet Potato Crazy Loaf

Korean Cheesecake Samples
We bought several goodies to go, including a loaf of the very popular Sweet Potato Crazy Loaf, which is made fresh daily and is a very popular bakery item.

I'm not a fan of sweet potato, but this bread was crazy good!

The operation definitely makes families feel welcome.  Not only did my kids hunt for sweet treats, but they were gifted toothbrushes (for after indulging in all the ONO2GUYS baked goods).

ONO2GUYS is a tiny shop in Kaneohe, but they are huge on service, as well as passion for the products they bake every day.

Sugarlina Bakeshop

Sugarlina Bakeshop has been baking up sweet treats for several years now in Aiea.

Although they are primarily known for their cupcakes, they also serve colorful macarons, and even banana pudding!

I recently stopped by and was treated to some of their yummy cupcakes!

Lemon Toffee Crunch

Cotton Candy

Vanilla Chocolate

Salted Caramel

Lemon Toffee Crunch is a popular flavor, but I couldn't resist the Salted Caramel.  I love all things Salted Caramel, and this moist cupcake had such a buttery frosting with just the right amount of salted caramel.

You can't go wrong with a fave like Vanilla Chocolate, and kids will love the fun Cotton Candy cupcake.

There are so many other yummy flavors to choose from at Sugarlina Bakeshop!
