Visit Waco: Baylor Bear Habitat

While in Waco, we stopped at Baylor University to check out the Bear Habitat.

Bears are the mascot of Baylor University, and have been a part of the campus since 1917.  Under the care and guidance of veterinarians, two bear sisters, Lady and Joy, reside at the habitat.

When we visited, the bears were sleeping in the shade.  It was just a quick visit to see what the habitat was all about, and despite being a lot smaller and more uneventful than I thought the habitat would be, this exhibit is an integral part of the university history, so I'm sure those with ties to the university may find the habitat more interesting.

I would not go out of my way to visit, but if you're in the area and decide to visit, take a stroll around the campus as well - it's beautiful!

Visit Waco: Silos Baking Co. at Magnolia

I'm not the biggest cupcake fan, but I tried one of the best cupcakes ever after being influenced by a billboard for cupcakes, a long line for the cupcakes, and some Instagram followers who encouraged me to stand in the long line, which was for Silos Baking Co. at Magnolia in Waco.

Since I was in Waco I thought I may as well give the bakery a try.

I'm glad I stood in line, because it took just 10 minutes to get through the door of this very popular bakery (don't let a long line deter you!).  I ordered a Spring Box of cupcakes, along with The Silo Cookies.

The Spring Box consisted of: Silobration, Strawberries ‘N Cream, Lemon Lavender, Carrot Cake, Toasted Coconut, and Wedding Cake Cupcakes (definitely get this box if you can't decide on what to order, and it's a $4 savings (cupcakes are $4 each).

The cupcakes were the best I ever had.  The frosting was so light and creamy, and the cupcakes moist and fluffy.  I had the Lemon Lavender, and it was amazing.

The Silo Cookie was enormous (and just $3), and full of oatmeal chocolate chip cookie + peanut butter chips & walnuts.

I would absolutely stand in that line again!

Visit Waco: Revival Eastside Eatery

I love a good soup and sandwich combo, and I had the perfect pairing at Revival Eastside Eatery.

Trinity

I ordered the Trinity (a grilled cheese with three types of cheeses - Swiss, provolone, and cheddar) with Tomato Soup.

It was exactly what I needed and it totally hit the spot.  It was one of my favorite meals during my trip to Texas - simple, yet comforting.

Special Burger

The Special Burger of the day was St. Patrick's Day-inspired - 44 Farms beef patty, bacon fat braised veggies, Swiss, and a vibrant St. Patty's aioli.

Titus

A kids menu is available, from which my youngest son ordered the Titus (grilled cheese).

Sandwiches come with fries, or you can upgrade to other sides, such as soup, salad, or sweet potato fries.

Everything was satisfying and delicious!
