Top 10: My Favorite Mexican Restaurants on Oahu

My favorite Mexican restaurant used to be Bandito's Cantina in Aiea - great food, reasonable prices, quick and friendly service.

Ever since they closed down I've been searching for a new favorite Mexican restaurant, which led me to various places around the island.

Here are my top 10 favorite Mexican restaurants:

1. Torito's Mexican Food - Delicious food and excellent service.  A place I probably would not have tried if Nat didn't give me a gift certificate (thank you again, Nat!)

2. El Palenque - A hole-in-the-wall in Wahiawa that serves up delicious Mexican eats!
3. Cholo's Homestyle Mexican Restaurant - Huge portions, delicious food on the North Shore!

4. El Mariachi Kapolei - Delicious chimichanga, friendly service!

5. Surfin' Salsa - Yummy Mexican eats from a food truck in Mililani.  Service is a bit slow, but the food is worth the wait!

6. Mexico Cantina - Generous portions and quick service puts this fairly new Ward Village eatery on my top 10 list.
7. El Charro Mexican Restaurant - Although I didn't expect (and really care for) the sauce on the chimichanga, the food was still really good overall.
8. Buho Cocina Y Cantina - Although there is no chimichanga on the menu (which, as you can tell, is my favorite thing to eat at Mexican restaurants based on my list), I think their food is great, and love the rooftop ambience!
9. Azteca Mexican Restaurant - Although I've had better chimichangas, the portions were huge, and the service was excellent.

10. Luibueno's Mexican and Latin Cuisine - Although they also don't offer chimichangas, and the meals I've eaten there were good or just okay, this Pescado de la Dia "Ajillo" dish that my husband once ordered was fantastic, and I'd definitely order it the next time I go.
