Fountain of Youth Facial at Moana Lani Spa

I had an amazing Mother's Day Weekend at the Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort & Spa.  One of the highlights was time spent at the Moana Lani Spa, where I recharged my mind, body and soul.

The 18,000-square foot spa and fitness space has a whirlpool tub, dry sauna, and steam room, as well as massage therapy rooms, custom facial rooms, and a Vichy sower hydrotherapy room.  Couples suites are also available.

Moana Lani Spa offers a variety of services to rejuvenate your entire being.  From massages and facials, to body wraps and salon services, you can find the ideal treatment for your needs.  A number of enhancements are also available to add on to your treatment, allowing for the ultimate in relaxation and pampering.

In addition to offering signature services, such as a Lomi Lomi Ola massage performed by a traditional Lomi practitioner, or a Heavenly Massage to help you relieve tension, the Moana Lani Spa has recently added more clinical treatments based on guest feedback.

Since I'm at the age where I'm getting more and more concerned about my skin, I opted for one of the new clinical treatments - the 50-minute Fountain of Youth Facial.

This procedure uses radio frequency, along with a custom cleanse, quantum lifting techniques, and a signature soothing and firming gold mask to help with increasing collagen and improving firmness, to leave skin with a natural, youthful glow.

Denise, my esthetician, was fabulous.  She explained the entire process and the different products and procedures as the treatment went along.

The radio frequency machine did not hurt at all.  As Denise used the wand on my face, it was actually very relaxing.  My face was cleansed, exfoliated, toned, moisturized, massaged, and thoroughly pampered.

The treatment also included a neck, shoulder, and decollete massage.

During the entire treatment, I felt completely at ease, and Denise did not hesitate to answer any questions or provide suggestions on how to address any skin concerns I had.

I did not want the treatment to end!  The fifty minutes went by too quickly!

After 50- or 80-minute treatments, guests are treated to a collagen shot and chocolates!

I absolutely loved the Fountain of Youth Facial.  I could definitely notice a difference in my skin immediately after the procedure, and hours later, I was still quite impressed with how great my skin looked.

The results of the facial, combined with how amazing Denise was, made me realize how much I needed to take better care of my skin, how much I needed the pampering, and that I need to do it more often!  Yes, a spa treatment can be pricey, but it's totally worth it, in my opinion.  And great news for kama`aina - the current Heavenly Kama`aina Club offers great discounts to local residents.  You can find out more information here.

After your treatment, you can just sit in tranquility in the waiting area and watch the crashing waves of the ocean and nibble on some snacks, you can shop the spa store, or you can access any of the other spa facilities - the whirlpool, sauna, etc., until closing.

Whether you need a massage, need to refresh your skin, or need to pamper your body, visit Moana Lani Spa!

Visit Maui: The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas

The weekend before school went back into session, our family spent an amazing weekend at The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas.  We simply wanted a fun-filled, yet relaxing getaway before we all went back to the daily grind.

Check-in time is at 4pm, but we arrived at the resort early to start our weekend.  We obtained towel cards and left our luggage with the bell desk so the kids could spend time at the pools.

The expansive 26-acre property boasts six pools, including a kids' Pirate Ship pool, a water slide, water basketball, and four outdoor whirlpools.

The kids loved the water slide, and they spent hours at the Pirate Ship pool.

Surrounding the pools were plenty of lounge chairs, and despite the number of guests at the resort, it was not difficult to find a spot to relax.

The pools were always busy, but not overly crowded

Lots of room to lounge

So many pools!

There's also a shaded playground near the Pirate's Pool!

Just after 4pm I received a phone call that the villa was ready, so I returned to the front desk to get the keys to our Ocean View 1-Bedroom Villa.

The 750 square-foot villa was decorated in warm, natural tones, and included a pull-out queen sofa, a large dining table, two large flat screen televisions, and a king Westin Heavenly bed.

In the villa is a full kitchen with granite countertops, a convection microwave, and a dishwasher.

The large bathroom included a double vanity, separate water closet, a whirlpool tub, and a stand-up shower.

Love the large bathroom

The villa was spacious and extremely comfortable.  Of course my husband loved that there were two TVs, so he could watch football on one TV while the kids watched cartoons on another.

Unfortunately, upon checking in we found cracker crumbs all over the floor in one of the closets.

However, despite that oversight, service throughout our stay was fabulous.

For instance, my kids wanted to take a bubble bath, but the jets weren't working, so we called maintenance.  We went out to dinner, and by the time we returned, it was all fixed!

The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas is great for an extended stay.  With a full kitchen, you can cook up entire meals for the family.  The property has its own grocery store, Kai Ala Market, from where you can purchase groceries, or you have the option of ordering groceries online.  It's just a $5 service charge to get everything delivered to your villa!

Water and snacks from Kai Ala Market were ready and waiting for us!
There are also numerous grill stations on property, where we often saw guests grilling steaks.

One of my favorite features of the villa was the washer and dryer.

Although we only stayed at The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas for a just a weekend, clothes for a family of 5 sure add up.  Prior to checking out, we did a load of laundry, which meant one less load of laundry to do when we got home.

For those staying longer, a washer and dryer means you can pack less clothes, and there'll be more room for souvenirs!

From our large lanai we had a lovely view of the ocean.
The view from the lanai

The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas is just steps from Ka`anapali Beach, with beautiful views of Lanai and Molokai, and if you're there during the months of November through April, it's possible to see whales frolicking in the ocean!

Winter weather at the Westin - just perfect!
The views all around the property were just gorgeous.  The sky lit up in all hues of purples, pinks, reds, and oranges throughout the mornings and evenings.

Can't get enough of the blues and greens!
The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas offers guests several ways to relax, immerse themselves in the local culture, or nurture their adventurous side.

Guests can lounge at the beach, go on an outrigger canoe tour, take hula lessons, get pampered at Spa Helani, and so much more!
Lounging on the beach
You really don't need to leave the property at all during your stay, as The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas offers so many activities, a general store, and several restaurants (you can read my review of Pulehu, an Italian Grill here; Auntie's Kitchen here; Pailolo Bar & Grill here).

And if you do leave the property, you have the option of catching the free shuttle to Lahaina town, Whalers Village, and other Starwood properties on Maui!  If you have your own car, you'll find that the resort is conveniently located, and is just a short drive away from numerous shops and restaurants.

I really love how kid-friendly the resort is.  In addition to the super fun Pirate Ship pool, kids (and kids at heart), can play shuffleboard, make candy lei, and even learn Hawaiian at the Pu'uhonua Cultural Center!

There's even a Westin Family's Kids Club!

The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas' large rooms, numerous amenities, and great location are just a few of the reasons why it's ideal for a family getaway.

A great big Mahalo to The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas, for the warm welcome and wonderful stay!

Visit Maui: Pailolo Bar & Grill

While at The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas, we spent hours at the pool.  All that time at the pool can work up an appetite, so we decided to order lunch from Pailolo Bar & Grill - through a smartphone app!

That's right - we didn't need to wait for an attendant to come around with a menu and take our order, and we didn't need to walk to the restaurant.  All we had to do was download the MenuPoint app (formerly Drinkpoint) and select the appropriate location so we could dine poolside.

The menu for Pailolo Bar & Grill popped up on screen, and I simply selected our meals, placed our order, and inputted my "table number" (a tag was attached to the lounge umbrella I was sitting beneath with our "table number," as well as all of the instructions on how to order).

I completed my order by entering my villa number and the registered name, and the order was processed.  The app gives you an update of your order (e.g. 1st in line) so you can check on your order at any time.  In less than 20 minutes, a staff member arrived arrived with a bag full of our meals, condiments, utensils, and napkins.

Poutine
I was not very hungry, but I couldn't resist ordering Poutine! The French Fries were so yummy on their own (some of the best fries I've had anywhere), but topped with gravy, cheese curds, and green onions - the dish was soooo good!

I took a bite out of the Chicken Ranch Club Wrap. Filled with chicken, bacon, lettuce, and cheese, it sure was yummy!

My kids ate up their kids meals and couldn't wait to get back into the pool!

The food was great, and of course if you prefer to sit at the restaurant to enjoy your meal, you can do that too, but the MenuPoint app makes it so easy and convenient to have lunch poolside!

Vist Maui: Spa Helani

Thanks to the Spa Helani, the Heavenly Spa by Westin, which is located in The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas, I was able to relax for an hour during a Customized Ritual by Salt of the Earth pedicure experience.

I rarely ever get pedicures (I've only had them twice before), and my feet definitely needed some pampering because of how rough and dry they were, so I knew this specific treatment would be just what I needed for my poor, tired feed.

Upon checking in at the Spa Helani, I was taken on a quick tour of the spa, where guests get access to a steam room, hydrotherapy room, shower, and indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges, as well as some light refreshments.

Maggie, the therapist, escorted me from the lounge to the pedicure room.

After choosing a nail color, I took a seat in a luxurious, cushioned pedicure chair, which had vibration massage.

Just before the treatment began, Maggie insisted I have a glass of champagne, so I happily obliged.
Who can resist champagne and chocolates?
After getting settled in to the plush chair, Maggie explained what the customized ritual would entail. First I selected an aroma from one of four scents (I chose Coconut Mango; also available were White Ginger, Toasted Coconut, and Cool Water). The scent was added to the foot soak, along with mineral salt, which helps to detoxify the skin,

The scent was also added to a cream, which was used for exfoliation and massage.

I also could select an anti-aging or hyalurnoic booster for the treatment (I opted for the hyaluronic booster based on Maggie's recommendation).

After an hour of soaking, exfoliating, moisturizing, and massaging, and then clipping, filing, and painting my toenails, my feet felt soft and rejuvenated, and I loved the color on my nails!

Maggie was wonderful.  She made sure I was always comfortable, and explained each step of the process.  We also spent the hour chatting about restaurants, the islands, and just life in general!

I've only had pedicures twice before, but this was the first time that I was so relaxed that I nearly dozed off.

Even Maggie acknowledged how relaxed I was.

It was probably due to the fabulous massage chair.

Or the aromatherapy.

Or the champagne.

Or maybe Maggie just had that special touch.

It was probably a combination of all of the above.

I just know that I did not want the treatment to end!

Even though the focus was on my feet, as a whole I just felt wonderful.

After the treatment, I took some time to relax in the outdoor patio before heading back to the hotel room.

Spa guests are able to utilize the facilities until 6pm the day of service, and they also get a same-day 20% discount off of any product purchases.

If you need to get away from it all for an hour or so, be sure to make an appointment at Spa Helani!
