Visit Maui: Pulehu, an Italian Grill

A couple of years I was fortunate to get a taste of the cuisine served at Pulehu, an Italian Grill during the "Toast to Tuscany" preview event.

I was blown away by the sampling of dishes, and over the weekend I was finally able to dine at this lovely Italian restaurant, which is located in The Westin Ka`anapali Ocean Resort Villas.

Complimentary Bread
After perusing the menu, my husband and I both opted for the Tramonto Sunset Menu, which is offered Thursday through Monday from 5:30pm - 6:00pm for just $41! The menu includes full size servings of a starter, entree, and dessert.

Insalata Caesar

Caprese
For my starter, I opted for the Caprese.  The Caprese is so simple, consisting of local tomatoes and burrata, yet when drizzled with white balsamic and basil oil, the flavors are intense!  No matter how much I wanted to keep on eating forkfuls of the fresh tomatoes and rich cheese, I had to stop myself otherwise I knew I would be too full to enjoy the entree.
Risotto Crusted Pesce

Prime Top Sirloin
For my entree I chose the Risotto Crusted Pesce.  The fish of the evening was monchong.  I absolutely loved the risotto crust, which was both crispy and creamy.  It provided a nice contrast to the tender fish.  The entire dish was fantastic - I ate almost the entire thing!

My husband really enjoyed the sirloin, and raved about how delicious the Gorgonzola mash was.

I was pleasantly surprised with how large the portions were for both dishes!

Coconut and Strawberry Guava Sorbetto

Budino

By the time dessert rolled around I was so stuffed, and even though I chose the sorbetto - something light and refreshing, I still couldn't finish it.  I really enjoyed the flavors of the sorbetto, however - the strawberry guava was luscious and fruity, and the coconut was very pleasant.

My husband devoured the Budino, which consisted of salted caramel, vanilla mousse, and an OREO cookie crumble.

Keiki meals are just $10, and include a drink.  I was impressed with the portion sizes - all of my kids took home leftovers!
Keiki Chicken Caesar Salad
Keiki Spaghetti & Meatballs
Keiki Cheese Pizza
They did, however, same room for dessert.  Keiki Gelato is just $5.
Keiki Marshmallow Gelato
Keiki Chocolate Gelato
Service was excellent throughout dinner, and the ambience was beautiful, yet comfortable.

I appreciated how family-friendly the restaurant is as well.

The food at Pulehu, an Italian Grill did not disappoint, and I highly recommended the Tramonto Sunset Menu, which offers a variety of dishes for a reasonable price - just be sure to bring your appetite, because you'll be indulging in a lot of food!
