New Grand Menu at Genki Sushi

Hawaii Mom Blog was invited to check out the newly launched Grand Menu at Genki Sushi. The Grand menu has over 140 items, with 40 brand new items like the Wagyu Beef nigiri, Sunrise Roll, Dynamite Mushroom, Spicy Tuna Wonton, Jalepeno Salmon, Aburi Charsiu Bowl and so much more!

Genki Sushi has always been a favorite with my kids so we have already established our favorites. My son loves the California Roll, but this time also tried the Dragon Roll and while I like spicy ahi, I tried the new JalapeƱo Salmon. We both tried the Wagyu Beef and loved it so much we had to put in a second order. Don't forget about dessert! There are many sweet treats available like mochi ice cream, boba ice cream bars, and waffles with cream.

Dragon Roll

Spicy Tuna, Ahi, and Jalapeno Salmon

Wagyu Beef

Chocolate Waffle

All the ordering is done on your phone which was very convenient, but the staff still comes by to fill water and check on you. Service was attentive and friendly. Genki Sushi has seven locations on Oahu: Ala Moana Center, Ewa Town Center, Windward City Shopping Center, Kapahulu Shopping Center, Kapolei Commons, Pearlridge Center, and Waikele Center.

Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera

Earlier this year, Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera opened with so much buzz that I knew that would mean long wait times so didn’t go even though wanted to. Last week the self-imposed restriction was lifted and we decided to check out Honolulu’s first upscale kaiten sushi restaurant located on King Street. Through their Instagram account, we made a same day reservation and had the choice between box (booth) and bar seating.

The restaurant is bright and spacious and I loved the large booths. Service was great as the staff regularly checked on us and brought our drinks. You order everything through the iPad with the limit of 4 orders at a time. The sushi was delicious and was made so quickly too! We also ordered some fried items, but the sushi is where it is at. We had a great time and we look forward to returning. Be sure to follow them on IG for up to date specials!

Visit Yokohama: Maguro Donya Miura Misakiko

I'm always game to eat wherever my friends suggest, and although I don't eat a lot of seafood, I had no problems dining at Maguro Donya Miura Misakiko at Yokohama World Porters.

Maguro Donya Miura Misakiko is a kaiten sushi restaurant, where you can pick plates off of the conveyor belt, or give your order directly to the sushi chefs.

Potatoes

Egg
Salmon

Chicken Karaage

Crab Miso

Unagi

Edamame

Rolled Omelette

Assorted Tuna

Shrimp
Upon being seated, our server simply gave us a notepad to write down our orders on.  We were waiting for her to retrieve our order, but later realized we could give the orders directly to the sushi chefs.

Service was somewhat spotty, but the food was pretty good.

The restaurant even offers some entertainment, with a lengthy production revolving around the cutting of a huge fish (you can watch an excerpt here on our Instagram).

Sushi Bay

If you like Kuru Kuru or Genki, you will LOVE Sushi Bay in Kapolei. The service is great and the portions are extremely generous.  This place is BUSY - on a Sunday morning we got here at 11:15 (it opened at 10:30 am) and waited 30 minutes for a party of 2.  But it was definitely worth the wait.  And if you think about it, for kaiten-sushi, you want the place to be busy, because that will ensure that the sushi on the conveyor belt is fresh and being constantly rotated in and out.

With over 100+ items on the menu, it's impossible for them to put everyone out on the belt, so if you want to eat something on the menu that you don't see on the belt, just order it from one of the servers. They will gladly make it for you.

Chicken karaage
Salmon
Unagi
Spicy Tuna
Ahi Poke
Soft Shell Crab

After my visit, I browsed through HMB's old posts and came across Gem's post in June 2014. I guess I should have read her review before heading out there, because then I would have known to go right when it opens. :)

Genki Sushi - Pearlridge Center

Genki Sushi is one of my kids' favorite restaurants, and I knew we had to check out the new Pearlridge location that recently opened up.
Located on the second level in Uptown (near Ross Dress for Less), this Genki Sushi location uses touch screens for ordering food and the "Bullet Express" for delivering the dishes.

We sure ordered all kinds of dishes!

Agedashi Tofu

California Roll

Cold Tofu

Dynamite - Spicy Tuna

Edamame

Garlic Chicken

Hot Dog Nigiri

Keiki Bowl

Spicy Imitation Crab Bomb
SPAM Nigiri

Teriyaki Chicken Bowl

Vegetable Croquette

Pink Tiger Roll
Gyoza
I love that Genki offers a nice variety of dishes, all at great prices.  Even if you don't eat sushi, you can still find lots of other items to eat - chicken, spring rolls, udon, gyoza, and more!

The Keiki Bowls sure have a lot of food for just $4, but my kids wanted to try all kinds of new things, and with such reasonable prices, we were happy to let them try whatever they wanted.

I'm sure it won't be long before we're visiting Genki Sushi at Pearlridge Center again!
