Earlier this year the
Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa completed a multi-million dollar renovation on each of its 1,230 rooms, which I was very eager to see for myself during a recent family staycation.
The front desk agent who checked me in was so friendly and super helpful in explaining all about the key cards, parking, and how to get to certain places in the resort.
After catching the elevator up in the Ewa Tower, one of two towers (the other being the Diamond Head Tower) that make up the iconic hotel, we stepped into an amazing Family Ocean Suite.
If you are staycationing or vacationing in Waikiki with your family, a Family Ocean Suite at the the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa is the way to go.

Bathroom areas with large vanities, Toto Washlets, and new showerheads felt almost spa-like, especially with the Na Ho`ola Spa bath amenities.

55-inch-flat screen TVs, iHome alarm clock radios, charging pods, dimming lights, mini refrigerators, and free Wi-Fi were just a few of the amenities that made for a convenient and comfortable stay.

The recently remodeled rooms were absolutely beautiful. The fresh decor was simple, yet modern, and the rooms were spacious, with subtle touches throughout that evoked Hawaii - the Koa wood clocks, the orchids placed on the beds, and the shades of blue, which acted as an extension of the Pacific Ocean.
We had incredible oceanfront views, with Diamond Head on the left, and the Waikiki Shoreline on the right.

The Family Suite was ideal, providing plenty of room and comfort for our family of five.
And families are very welcome at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa.
The hotel hosts an array of complimentary
activities - hula, storytelling, crafts, and more (unfortunately activities were canceled on the day we checked-in due to weather) - such a great way for families to spend time together!
When it comes to dining, kids 5 and under can dine for free when ordering off off the kids menu with a paying adult, and SHOR and Swim offer a
For Kids by Kids Menu, in which nutritious meal options have been tasted, tested, and approved by kids!
Japengo is another restaurant on property that offers great food for both the adults and kids (you can read my review
here), and if you've booked a
Regency Club room or have Hyatt Diamond Status, you'll have access to the Regency Club Lounge, at which you and your family can dine on complimentary dishes.
We were fortunate to get access to the lounge, so I popped in for Hors D'Oeuvres in the evening just to see what was being served, and I was impressed with the spread - you could easily get filled up for dinner! Since we had reservations at Japengo for dinner, we decided to go back to the lounge for Desserts, during which time they served cookies and pastries, and we went back the next morning to enjoy a Continental Breakfast.

The Regency Club Lounge offers guests a great way to save on meals, but if you don't have Regency Club Lounge access, you can still find great deals for the restaurants at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, as well as at the Pualeilani Atrium Shops, located on the first 3 floors of the hotel. Simply pick up a Pualeilani Atrium Shops Guide (it can be found in the hotel room and all throughout the hotel), in which you'll find coupons good for dining, as well as shopping, activities, and services!
Speaking of the Pualeilani Atrium Shops, you'll find a great variety of shops for the entire family - kids can indulge in Hokulani Bake Shop cupcakes or design their own flip flops at the Flip Flop Workshop; dads can stock up on tees at Local Motion; moms can pick up a new bag from LeSportsac.

Isn't it great you don't need to go far to shop or dine out? But if you do decide to leave the property, there are many other shops and restaurants nearby.
During our staycation we did not leave the property. Even though Waikiki Beach is right across the street (complimentary beach towels, chairs, and bags available for use), and the hotel has a pool and whirlpool, rainy weather prevented us from enjoying these activities, but we were so content to relax in the spacious rooms and watch the waves of Waikiki roll in from the balcony.

The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa is a superb option for a staycation (or vacation) in Waikiki. The renovated rooms were just splendid (more renovations are underway at the front desk and other common areas), the staff was just delightful, the amenities were plentiful, and the location was super convenient.
In other words, it was a fabulous family staycation!
