Visit Las Vegas: Giordano's Deep Dish Pizza

My sister and I LOVE pizza so I was all in for getting deep dish pizza from Giordano's on a recent trip to Las Vegas. Giordano's is an American pizzeria chain that specializes in Chicago-style stuffed pizza and has two locations in Vegas. We stopped by the Summerlin location since it was nearby a donut shop I wanted to check out.

We ordered the cheese deep dish right away as it takes about 45 minutes to prepare. In the meantime we also ordered cheesy garlic bread and spaghetti. If deep dish is not your thing, they also offer pan pizza and thin crust pizza styles. I absolutely loved the cheesy deep dish, but my niece who is pizza sauce adverse said the sauce was just too overpowering. Check Giordano's out and you be the judge.

The restaurant itself is spacious and great for families and the service was attentive and friendly. I would definitely return.

Visit Chicago: Pequod's Pizza

I did an IG poll asking followers for their recommendations on where to go for Chicago-style Deep Dish Pizza. My foodie pal, Yuko, mentioned Pequod's, so we went to check it out!

There are two locations - one in Chicago, and the other in Morton Grove.  Silly us went to the Chicago one in the late afternoon thinking we could walk right in, only to be told there's a 2.5-hour wait.

Luckily, the Morton Grove location took reservations and still had some available for the same night, so we went there later in the evening.

Appetizer Combo
We had the Appetizer Combo to start (since the pizzas take about 45 minutes).  It included mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini, fried mushrooms, and jalapeno poppers.  Everything was delicious, deep-fried good!

We ordered a large pan pizza, half Pepperoni and Mushroom, half Sausage and Onion.

The server brings the pan to the table and actually serves everyone a piece.

I loved the pizza.  It was my fave of all the Chicago-style Deep Dish pizzas I tried, primarily because of the caramelized crust.

Of the two varieties, I liked the Sausage and Onion way more than I did my usual fave combo of Pepperoni and Mushroom.

The sausage itself was really flavorful, and I could taste a lot of the seasonings in it, which made for a much tastier pizza topping.

Thank you, Yuko, for the recommendation!

Visit Chicago: Giordano's at The Curragh Irish Pub

Many people said a must-try Chicago deep dish pizza spot is Giordano's.  So we googled one that was not too far from our hotel, and also one that was not too busy.

Turns out, the one we found was take-out only, but the adjacent restaurant, The Curragh Irish Pub, offers Giordano's pizzas on their menu (they also offer food from another adjacent restaurant - Que Onda Mexican Restaurant). and there was no wait for a table!

Since deep dish pizzas take a long time to cook, we ordered a couple of items to start:

Cobb Salad
The Cobb Salad was pretty huge, topped with grilled chicken avocado, eggs, tomatoes, red onions, and bacon.  We all enjoyed it.

Black N Tan Onion Rings

The Guinness Beer-battered onion rings were good, but they were a bit under-seasoned.

And finally, the pizza...

Chicago Classic
The Chicago Classic was stuffed (and I mean STUFFED) with pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, and onions.

A single deep dish slice is more than enough for a meal.

The pizza was good, although I did think the crust was a little too thin to hold all the ingredients stuffed in the middle.

We were all happy with the pizza, and even happier we didn't need to wait for a table!
