Banzai Pops "Banzai Snow"

Banzai Pops recently launched Banzai Snow - Shoyu Butter Pork Rinds!

Crispy pork rinds are dusted with a shoyu butter flavor combo that is truly addicting.

I love that Banzai Pops offered this new item, and it's always fun to see what new Banzai Pops flavors and products will be introduced!

Banzai Pops for a Special Occasion

I first learned about Banzai Pops after reading Gem's post back in July.  Then she gave us a couple of pops for my birthday and my sons loved them, so I placed a small order of the ones they liked (lychee, green river, and grape), and also ordered the special flavor (strawberry mochi) since I love everything mochi.

Even I got hooked on these pops as they take me back to my childhood days of eating ice cakes after school.

Fast forward a couple of months and the twins' birthday was quickly approaching and I had to think of something that the boys could take to school for their friends to enjoy at home (since pizza parties are out of the question this year due to COVID-19).  Then it struck me that Banzai Pops are actually delivered unfrozen, therefore I could send these to school unfrozen and their classmates can freeze them when they get home.

And so I reached out to the Banzai Pops owner on Instagram and placed a special order for 50 Banzai Pops.  The owner was so accommodating by agreeing to a meet up on a date that wasn't scheduled as a meet-up date and he even came over to my side of the island!

The boys were so excited to bring these to school to hand out to their classmates and teachers.

And of course there were "extras" for the boys to enjoy throughout their birthday week.

Banzai Pops

Whether it's distance learning, working from home, finding a new job, or converting to a new business model, over the past few months we have all had to find ways to keep busy and adapt to a new way of life because of the pandemic.

A friend of mine, Kynan, who also happens to be a fellow Pearl City Charger, found himself with a lot more time on his hands due to his job in the tourism industry being affected by the pandemic.

Like many of us, he began to cook at home more to save money.  I'd see his stories on Instagram, and I was actually quite impressed with his creations - I didn't know he could cook so well!

He'd whip up all sorts of dishes for his family, often times choosing to make things that he, himself, enjoyed as a kid.

One day, after making ice cakes for his kids and tinkering around with some recipes, @banzai_pops was born.

Ice cakes were very popular when we were growing up.  I remember getting picked up after school by my aunty, who always had ice cakes ready for my cousin and me.  What a treat!

And eating one of the Banzai Pops took me back to childhood!  Instead of frozen concoctions in paper cups, Banzai Pops are in freezer bags, making them easily totable and consumable.  Everything about them is so nostalgic.

My kids loved the flavors.  I love how Kynan came up with a wide variety - Pineapple, Strawberry, Blue Vanilla, Lychee, Japanese Grape, and Green River.

Follow @banzai_pops and DM Kynan with your order!  He has designated days and times for meet-ups, and the Banzai Pops are just $2 each.  They are the perfect anytime treat!
