Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory (OSF) at Aloha Tower has recently been our family's go-to when we all gather for a special occasion. Parking is quite convenient to the restaurant, and they can accommodate large parties. The restaurant is spacious (important for the old folks who are in wheelchairs or use walkers) and the restrooms are accessible and clean. Everyone really enjoys their food, and the service is always friendly and professional.

The cotton candy Limeade is my son's favorite drink to order here. The other son likes the Italian soda (not pictured), especially since it comes in a keepsake glass (keepsake glass is only for dine-in customers).

It's hard to avoid getting full on the appetizers. You have been warned! The Sicilian garlic cheese bread is our favorite and we'll usually get at least 2 orders for our party of 18.

On this particular visit, the niece wanted to try the Olive Tapenade. You have to be a fan of olives to appreciate this appetizer. I'm not a huge fan of olives on its own, but when I combined it with the homemade marinara sauce from the garlic bread, it was a winner!!

Every entree comes with choice of soup or salad. We all opt for the salad with house pesto dressing. The pesto dressing is highly popular, and if you don't like a lot of dressing on your salad, I would suggest requesting the dressing on the side as they do tend to put a lot of it on the salad.

I used to order the Manager's Favorite (choice of two classic favorites) but lately I've been ordering the Pot Pourri which comes with 4 sauces: Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter, Meat, Clam and Marinara Sauces.

Every entree also comes with choice of ice cream for dessert. OSF is known for their Spumoni, which I always order, because it's not one of those flavors that you normally find on a menu or at an ice cream parlor.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 11 am - 9 pm; Fridays and Saturdays 11 am - 10 pm.

Validated parking (discounted rate) is available at Aloha Tower Marketplace (across from the restaurant entrance).

The Old Spaghetti Factory Reopens in Hawaii

The Old Spaghetti Factory shut its doors at Ward Warehouse about a year ago, where it had been serving Hawaii's families for over 30 years. Almost a year later, The Old Spaghetti Factory re-opened in a larger space at Aloha Tower Marketplace, and it as just as busy and popular as it was before.

They still have the same great menu at great prices, including their just-for-kids menu...

Mac n Cheese

and their famous 3-course meal which comes with unlimited bread and butter (not pictured), choice of soup or salad ....

... your choice of one of their pasta classics (I always order the Manager's Favorite which allows me to choose two of their classic sauces: Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter and rich meat sauce) ....

and ice cream!

I'm so happy the Old Spaghetti Factory is back!

Highlights from Frolic's Honolulu PokeFest

Frolic's first-ever Honolulu PokeFest happened this past Saturday night at Pier 11 at Aloha Tower Marketplace.  The event consisted of fifteen of Hawaii's favorite local restaurants, offering unique poke creations in unlimited quantities.  It's no surprise that the event was a sell-out, since poke is still one of the hottest food trends right now.

I originally wasn't planning to attend this event, but after winning two tickets from Toyota Hawaii, my hubby recruited his family to babysit for us so that we could attend.  Poke is one of my hubby's most favorite food of all time!

Here are some highlights from the event:

Door prizes were being given out throughout the evening. I was lucky enough to win one of several roundtrip tickets from Island Air!

Mahalo to Toyota Hawaii for the tickets to PokeFest!

Gordon Biersch

I recently dined at Gordon Biersch for the first time ever!

Artisan Grilled Cheese
Marzen BBQ Burger

Kids Macaroni and Cheese + Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Kids Corn Dog + Housemade Potato Chips
I ordered the Artisan Grilled Cheese - Gruyere, bacon, and avocado mayo on sourdough bread. I love a good grilled cheese, and this grilled cheese was so delish!  Gooey cheese and crispy bacon make a wonderful combination, especially with Gordon Bierch's popular Garlic Fries.

My husband enjoyed his burger, which was topped with bacon, cheddar, and a Marzen BBQ sauce.

Kids meals are a deal - just $4.95 for an entree and side (the housemade chips are fantastic!)!

Because of how inexpensive the kids meals were, our entire family ate for under $40 (before tax and tip)!

Service was excellent, and Gordon Biersch is now a new family fave!

Views from the Aloha Tower Observation Deck

Although I frequently drive pass Aloha Tower, or walk past it when I'm at the Aloha Tower Marketplace, I've only been up it twice.

Most recently we took our kids up to the 10th floor observation deck of the tower,

The small observation areas give a great view of Downtown Honolulu and Honolulu Harbor.

This popular landmark, which was once the tallest building in Hawaii for decades after it was built in 1926, still welcomes cruise ships.

It is now the centerpiece of the Aloha Tower Marketplace, which is home to a few retailers and restaurants, and is in the process of being revitalized.
