Here's what we ate at the Haneda Airport terminal 2 prior to our flight back to HNL:

Katsu Curry Udon (Ginza Kiya)

I had the Katsu Curry Udon, and it was one of the best airport meals I've ever had!  The broth was soothing, the katsu crispy, yet juicy, and overall it was just a bowl of goodness!

Airport Eats: Uinta Brewing Company at SLC

An early morning flight out of Salt Lake City International Airport meant we had to skip the complimentary hotel breakfast and find eats at the airport.

After walking through the terminals to find somewhere to eat, we finally decided upon Uinta Brewing Company (terminal B). 

Cowboy Breakfast Bowl

The Cowboy Breakfast Bowl was a skillet filled with tater tots, peppers, onions, eggs, and bacon, along with toast on the side.  

Pancakes with Berries and Bacon

The Pancakes come with a choice of bacon or sausage.  My son chose bacon, and he just wished it was crisper.  He did enjoy the pancakes, however.

Breakfast Burrito

The Breakfast Burrito was stuffed with bacon (or sausage, if you prefer), eggs, tater tots, and cheese. It was served with berries and tater tots.

I was quite impressed with the breakfast options.

A tabletop QR code makes online ordering and payment a breeze.

Airport Eats: Stinger Rays Tropical Bar and Grill

For an airport eatery, I think Stinger Rays Tropical Bar and Grill is pretty good in terms of food, although pretty pricey. 

Crispy Chicken BLT

The Bacon on my chicken sandwich was pretty flaccid, but other than that, everything else was good.

Truffle Fries

I upgraded to Truffle Fries, but the server forgot to note it in the order, and ended up giving me a bigger portion of Truffle Fries.

Cheeseburger

Stinger Rays can get pretty crowded, but with such limited food options in Terminal 1, I think it's one of the better ones where you can sit down, enjoy some food, and relax before a flight.

Yes, it's expensive, but it could be a much better alternative to what you get on a plane (or what you have to pay for on the plane).

Airport Eats: Smashburger

We had another early morning layover at Denver International Airport, so we ate breakfast at Smashburger.

We've had Smashburger years ago while in Phoenix, but it was the first time we went to a Smashburger for breakfast!

The Breakfast Smashburger was loaded high with bacon, egg, and cheese, and served with tots.  

Meat, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich

You can also get a breakfast sandwich without the burger.  

If non-breakfast foods are what you're craving, they do offer a menu of various burgers, as well as wraps, chicken tenders, and more.  

Smashburger was a convenient stop in DEN for breakfast!

Airport Eats: Shake Shack at Denver International Airport

After arriving at Denver International Airport on the red eye, we grabbed breakfast at Shake Shack.  They do offer burgers for breakfast, but they also have breakfast sandwiches!

We got the Shack Burger (lettuce, tomato, cheese, ShackSauce), SmokeShack (cheese, bacon, cherry peppers, ShackSauce), Bacon, Egg N' Cheese Sandwich, Fries, and Tots!

Burgers for breakfast is a bit unusual, at least for us, but I guess when you're on vacation, anything goes!

Shake Shack was super ideal because it was not too busy and we could easily find a table.

Airport Eats: Voodoo Doughnut at Denver International Airport

After arriving at Denver International Airport, we wanted a bite to eat before our next flight, so we stopped at Voodoo Doughnut for some snacks.

Their first shop opened in Oregon in 2003, and in my opinion, they were the first doughnut shop to start what has since become a craze in gourmet / specialty doughnuts with fun toppings and creative names.

Oh Captain, My Captain is topped with lots of Cap'n Crunch cereal.

Old Dirty Bastard

Old Dirty Bastard is a fave - with chocolate frosting, chocolate cream-filled cookies, and peanut butter drizzle.  PB and chocolate is my fave combo!

After two decades, it's nice to see Voodoo Doughnut still going strong, with numerous locations throughout the country, and that their signature doughnuts have remained consistent.

Airport Eats: Mustards Grill at SFO

After landing at SFO for a connecting flight, we were famished, and went to the first sit-down restaurant we could find - Mustards Grill, which has a flagship in Napa.

Onion Rings

The Onion Rings were more like onion strings.  I think strings are better on salads or sandwiches, and rings are better for eating as an appetizer.

Beer Battered Rock Cod was served with a generous serving of fries.

Crazy Good Smoked Chicken Wings

The Crazy Good Smoked Chicken Wings were indeed very good, as was made evident when my son devoured them all.

Adult Grilled Cheese Sandwich

I love Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, and this sandwich was full of fontina, red peppers, and a basil aioli.

It paired perfectly with the soup of the day - a Tomato Bisque!

We had two different servers, and they were both very friendly and accommodating.  Although one of our dishes never got submitted with our order, and it ended up being served to the table next to us after they finally worked on our order, we still thought Mustards Grill was a great airport eatery.

Airport Eats - Mauka Market

Mauka Market opened up in the Mauka concourse at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport over the summer.

We recently stopped in so my friend could grab a quick bite, and it was quite busy.  

I thought the menu was pretty impressive, with local faves such as ramen, loco moco, and even poke. 

I wasn't very hungry, but my friend decided to order the Mauka Signature Burger, which came with smoked bacon jam, aioli, arugula, and crispy onions.

It was a great looking burger, but my friend thought the burger itself was just okay.  

The restaurant was pretty busy, and if you can't get a table or want to get something for the plane ride, they do offer take-out. 

If I'm at the airport early and hungry enough for a meal, or want to eat something on the plane, I would definitely consider Mauka Market!

I never have high expectations for airport food, but I was pretty impressed with strEAT.  I had the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Gyoza appetizers, both of which I thought were tasty.

The Gyoza was nice and crispy, and the Chicken had a nice tang to it.

Everyone else ate up their meals before boarding our long flight back to Honolulu, and we were fully satisfied.  

Seating is at a premium around this eatery, so be prepared to wait for a table and also be prepared to have others linger over your table if they notice you're finishing up.

Upon catching our flight back home, we had breakfast at Garden State Diner in EWR.

Meat Lovers Omelet

I had the Meat Lovers Omelet, which was filled with lots of bacon, sausage, and ham. it was supposed to come with seasoned home fries, but they only had regular fries available. Also, they were out of sourdough, so the omelet came with 7-grain toast. Overall, I thought it was a great, hearty breakfast.

For airport food and prices, I thought this was a pretty reasonably-priced meal and portion. 

The Frequent Flyer was a nice looking sandwich, with eggs, cheese, bacon, and ham.

Service was very friendly, and I'd definitely visit again if I'm passing through EWR.

During our stopover at Denver International Airport, we had breakfast at Pour La France!

Breakfast was actually quite good and satisfying.  The Petite Quiche is indeed petit, but it was very delish, and since it was accompanied by a croissant and potatoes, the entire meal was very filling.

The Colorado Omelette was stuffed with poblanos, green chiles, and goat cheese.

The kids meals were generously-sized!

Pour La France! was a great stop for breakfast while waiting for our connecting flight back home!

During our stopover at O'Hare International Airport, we dined at Tortas Frontera by Rick Bayless for breakfast.

The Egg & Bacon Torta was quite spicy, and was also stuffed with beans, avocado, and chipotle.

The Cazuela - eggs with roasted sweet potatoes, black beans, cheese, poblanos, arugula, cilantro, red onions, tortilla strips, avocado, and meat - was hearty and flavorful.  I personally thought it was way too much food and spice for a meal first thing in the morning (and I like spice).  I probably would've devoured it during lunch or dinner, but it was really tasty.

While on a layover at Denver International Airport, we dined at Elway's.

Kids Macaroni & Cheese

I had the Southwest Skillet, which included chorizo, potatoes, roasted poblanos, black beans, cheese, tomatillo salsa, and eggs.  It was hearty and tasty.

The Mile High Omelet consisted of mushrooms, spinach, bacon, and aged cheddar cheese.

A kids menu is offered with everything at just $8, with the exception of a 4oz filet for $18.

Service was excellent.  Our server was very friendly, and another server, who accidentally tilted one of the kids' plates as he was serving thus losing some fries, ended up giving us a brand new (huge) batch of fries!

Elway's was a great place to dine in between flights.

I had the Chicken Caprese Sandwich, and it was really good!  The chicken was tender and juicy, and it was topped with sundried tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and a yummy house pesto mayo.

The Tortilla Soup was the special soup of the day, and that was delicious as well. 

The Roasted Turkey Wrap consisted of roasted red peppers, avocado, spinach, and provolone.

I was impressed with the food at this airport restaurant.  I thought the service could've been friendlier, but overall, I enjoyed it and would dine there again!

The Pimento Cheese Omelet was also stuffed with bacon and tomato, and I liked the spiciness.

Omelets are served with breakfast potatoes and toast.

The Stancakes consisted of 3 pancakes with bacon (or sausage).

It was a busy spot for breakfast, and service was just okay. 

There weren't too many options for breakfast in the terminal we were in, but if I find myself in that terminal again on a future layover, I'd probably choose elsewhere to eat.

The Mile High Breakfast Burrito was huge!  It was stuffed with chorizo, peppers, onions, eggs, and cheese.  So delish!

The Pancakes were whole-wheat, with juice mixed in to give it a softer texture than typical pancakes.

The Mexican-Style Skillet consisted of eggs, chorizo, peppers, potatoes, and onions.

Service was really good, and I'd definitely eat at New Belgium Hub again if I find myself hungry at Denver International Airport.
