Visit Kauai: Verde Restaurant

Upon landing in Lihue, everyone in our family was hungry, so after checking-in to the hotel, we decided to go to Verde Restaurant.

Whenever I go to Mexican restaurants I opt for a chimichanga, but it wasn't offered at Verde, so I decided on the Ultimate Chicken Burrito, which consisted of chicken, cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, local greens, cabbage rice, aioli & chile sauce.  The chicken was so tender and so flavorful - my mouth is watering just thinking about how delicious the burrito was.  It was probably the best burrito I've ever eaten.  Initially, I thought I should have ordered beans and rice (extra charge), but the burrito was huge and more than enough to satisfy my hunger.

My husband ordered the Carne Adovado "Red Pork" Burrito, which also included potatoes and cheese.  He chose to get it "smothered" (extra charge) with chile sauce, cheese, lettuce & pico de gallo.  It looked amazing, and my husband said it tasted as good as it looked.

One of my sons ordered the pork tacos - the pork was seasoned perfectly, and my son had no problem devouring both tacos.

Verde Restaurant offers a limited kids menu, and they note the serving size is for kids 5 and under.

Service was prompt and friendly.

If you love Mexican food, check out Verde Restaurant.  It's definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in Hawaii.
