Tennessee Omiyage

Although Jack Daniel's is a popular Tennessee omiyage, I instead bought a lot of sweets and sauces.  I had no idea the Moon Pie was a Tennessee treat (and that there were so many flavors), and that Goo Goo Clusters were a thing!

Visit Nashville: The Loveless Cafe

In Nashville, we dined at The Loveless Cafe for breakfast. They are known worldwide for their biscuits!

The biscuits were indeed amazing. Light, fluffy, and perfect on their own, and even yummier with the preserves.

Breakfast platters come with the biscuits, and a choice of grits, hashbrown casserole, or home fried potatoes.

Since I love savory foods, I ordered the Biscuit Sampler Platter. You can choose up to four different fillings, and my fave filling was the Fried Green Tomato & Pimiento Cheese.

Kids breakfasts are just $4.95 and included are drink.  There are two options for breakfast:

Scrambled Eggs with Bacon (or Sausage Patty)

Pancakes with Bacon (or Sausage Patty)

There is a window through which you can watch the famous biscuits being made!

Service was excellent, and if you are in the area (or even if you’re not), head on down to The Loveless Cafe for some amazing biscuits!

Of course since we were in Tennessee we just had to try the Tennessee Fudge - vanilla ice cream with swirls of fudge throughout - so creamy and delish!

Mike's Ice Cream offers a nice variety of flavors to choose from, but I wouldn't hesitate to get the Tennessee Fudge again!

Visit Nashville: Tootsies Orchid Lounge

While cruising through Downtown Nashville, we decided to stop at Tootsies Orchid Lounge for lunch (all ages welcome) to listen to some live music and eat some food.

Three floors with three different live performers await guests.

The first floor was packed with people, so we made our way to the third floor.

We listened to all of the performers on each floor and they were all fantastic. The guy in the duo performing on the third floor mentioned how he learned to play a certain song while walking on a beach in Hawaii!

We ordered a couple of appetizers since we were not that hungry.

The nachos included cheese, chili, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream.  The Onion Rings were sure delicious.

Tootsies was the perfect spot for food, drink, and live music!

Visit Nashville: Prince's Hot Chicken

One thing I was really looking forward to eating while in Nashville was Hot Chicken, so we went to Prince's Hot Chicken, which is known to be where Hot Chicken originated.

We happened to go on a Thursday, which meant Chicken Tenders were being served.  We got two servings plain, and one serving medium, and also ordered Fries.

I like spicy foods, but we were told that if we never had Hot Chicken before, we shouldn't order Hot, which is why we opted for Medium.

At first glance and whiff, the chicken looked pretty tame.  The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and even after the first couple of bites, I thought "the heat isn't so bad!"

And then...

It hit me.

The heat eventually kicked in, and after a few more bites, all I wanted was the bread! 

It was so hot, I couldn't even finish an entire chicken tender. I cannot even imagine how much hotter the "Hot" really is.

The fries were seasoned and delish.

Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous, but be prepared to wait for your food.  Prince's is a popular spot, and everything is made fresh to order (we waited about 45 minutes for our chicken).

I'm glad I finally got to try Hot Chicken...even though I really only tried "Medium."

The cookies were amazing!  I had the Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookie.  It was so good - crispy on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside.  I wish I had bought more than one!

I didn't get a chance to taste the croissant that my son got, but it sure looked delish!

Dozen Bakery also serves brunch and lunch, but if you're in the mood for something sweet, definitely pay a visit to Dozen Bakery!
