Visit Maui: Maui Cookie Lab

Three years ago during a Maui trip, I asked @melissa808 if we could stop at the Maui Cookie Lab pop-up.  It was my only request during that entire trip, and since Melissa (our planner and driver) knows how much I love sweets, she made sure to fit it in.

I bought several flavors of cookies, and I was immediately hooked on the Chocolate Chunk Sea Salt.  It was so amazing - a nice mix of sweet and salty in a chewy cookie.

Fast forward three years later, Maui Cookie Lab just opened its first brick-and-mortar in Kahului!

I was so excited to have attended a media event where I got to see first hand how these delectable cookies are made.

An impressive display of stacks of cookies greets customers at Maui Cookie Lab's new shop, where you can also indulge in affogatos, housemade lemonade, cold brew coffees and lattes, and even cookie ice cream sundaes!

I had my eye on the Cookie Ice Cream Sundae as soon I saw it on the menu.

Simply choose any cookie, and they chop it and add it to a bowl of Roselani Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

It is such a winning combo!  The chewy chunks of cookies with the ice cream is pure heaven!

Of course, I couldn't leave Maui Cookie Lab without buying some treats for the kids!

I bought Snickerdoodle Sprinkle and Chocolate Chunk Sea Salt Cookies, as well as boxes of the very pretty Floral Shortbreads (perfect for gift-giving!).  

I already can't wait to revisit!

Aloha Maui Day Trip: Minit Stop

A year ago I had my first taste of Minit Stop Fried Chicken, and it has since become a fave.

Several months later, I had my first taste of the Potato Wedges, and that too has become a fave!

Our first stop on our Aloha Maui Day Trip was to get Fried Chicken at Minit Stop.  I also got some Potato Wedges, and Laurie got some Fried Chicken Skins (Chick-A-Rrones).

The Fried Chicken didn't disappoint, and neither did the Potato Wedges.  I thought the Chicken Skins were okay - not as crispy as I thought they'd be.

Maui Day Trip Stop 13 - Krispy Kreme

As so many other people do before they head to the airport to leave Maui, we stopped at Krispy Kreme to pick up doughnuts.

The Original Glazed doughnuts were freshly made!  They also were offering cute Halloween doughnuts!

What better way to end our Maui Day Trip!

Maui Day Trip Stop 12 - Da Kitchen

Our second-to-the-last stop on Maui was Da Kitchen in Kahului (there is a second Express location in Kihei).

Nadia and I were too full to eat an entire meal, so we picked up a Fried SPAM Musubi to eat at the airport.

The Fried SPAM Musubi is pretty big, so even though we shared a single musubi, it was more than enough to satisfy.

It's definitely a must-eat at Da Kitchen!

Maui Day Trip Stop 11 - Maui Coffee Roasters

Even though we already made 10 stops on Maui, Nadia and I were feeling pretty tired in the late afternoon (perhaps from the heat walking in Lahaina, or from the alcohol in the boozy shave ice?), so we looked for a coffee shop so she could get her caffeine.

She ordered a Pumpkin Spice Latte, while I picked up a couple of bags of Maui Sweet Cakes Shortbread Cookies for omiyage.

Maui Coffee Roasters offers a lot of sweets as well.  I wasn't hungry, but had I been craving something sweet, I definitely would've picked up a treat to eat (they also sell Donut Dynamite!).

Maui Coffee Roasters was a great stop for a quick pick-me-up!

Maui Day Trip Stop 10 - Maui Specialty Chocolates

Nadia and I did not have Maui Specialty Chocolates on our itinerary for our day trip, but since we had time, we made a quick stop.

We were too late for the popular mochi (they usually sell out early morning), but there were still plenty of chocolaty confections for us to choose from.

I picked up a couple of boxes of Dark Chocolate with Himalayan Salt, along with individual pieces of chocolate OREO, Dolphins, and Peanut Butter Cups with Rice Crispies.

Maui Specialty Chocolates is definitely a must-stop for omiyage!

Maui Day Trip Stop 3 - Tin Roof Maui

Even though I've been to Maui several times over the past year, I never got to try Tin Roof until my day trip with Nadia.

The tiny eatery, owned by world-renowned Chef Sheldon Simeon & his wife, Janice, dishes out local-style comfort food.

Ulu Mac Salad

I ordered Sheldon's Stay-Hungry Meal, which consisted of pork belly, garlic noodles, a chili oil/ginger scallion pesto, and ulu mac salad.  The pork was delicious, but a little too fatty for my liking.  I enjoyed the noodles and especially loved the pesto.

Nadia ordered the Mochiko Chicken kau kau tin, which I loved. The sweet, crispy chicken was nicely complemented with a slightly spicy gochujang aioli. So good!

The servings are pretty huge. Nadia and I could've easily shared a single kau kau tin.

I'm definitely ordering the Mochiko Chicken next time I go!

Maui Day Trip Stop 1 - Akamai Coffee Company

Nadia and I took a day trip to Maui to stop at at least 10 places around the island to eat, drink, shop, and play.

Our first stop was Akamai Coffee Company.

We went to the Drive Through location in the Home Depot Parking lot near the airport.

They offer 100% Maui coffees, in addition to smoothies and Italian sodas.

They also have additional items listed on a small menu at the window.

Nadia opted for a Toddy.

There are two sides you can drive up through, and if you're not familiar with what a drink is, the employees are super helpful!
