Hy's Steak House June Events

In March, I previewed Hy's Steak House special dinners and loved the concept!  For June, Hy's has two special dinners planned: a Chef's Table (June 7) and L'Aventure Wine Dinner (June 13).  The Chef's Table is a more casual dinner featuring 100% local products and tableside craft cocktail pairings while the Wine Dinner is a more formal experience.  Both events are equally delicious and show a different side of Hy's.

The June Chef's Table Menu features Aloun Farms Thai Watermelon & Big Island Goat Cheese Salad, Ewa Sweet Corn Chowder, Kua'loa Ranch Fresh Oysters and Fresh Kumamoto Oysters, and Makaweli Ranch "Premium Natural" Ribeye.  Cost of dinner is   $100 and $50 for optional cocktail pairings.

The L'Aventure Wine Dinner begins with Fresh Hamachi Crudo w/ Yuzu Emulsion followed by "Miso" Marinated Patagonian Toothfish w/ Lei of Pickled Vegetables, Pan Seared Hudson Valley Duck Breast w/ Port-Wine & Fresh Cherry Reduction, Kiawe Grilled Durham Ranch Bison Ribeye w/ Bleu Cheese-Herb Compound Butter, and ends with "Hy's Mini Charcuterie Tasting" of an assortment of Imported Premium European Cheeses, Geno Salami Slices, House Made Lavosh and accompanied with Fresh Island Melon & Jams.  Cost of dinner and wine pairings is $225 per person.

For more information, please call Hy's

The Mom Made Market Hawaii 2017

Disclosure: Complimentary passes were provided by our sponsor

The Mom Made Market held its second event in Hawaii this past weekend in Kakaako, bringing together over 50 businesses owned by moms.  I attended the inaugural event in Hawaii last year at the Hawaii Convention Center, and I can honestly say that this year's event was bigger and better!  Tickets were only $3 and the location at 449 Cooke Street was a lot more shopper-friendly with a lot of natural light and air, space, and parking available in the surrounding areas (they even validated parking at Salt Kakaako).  There were a lot more shoppers, vendors, and energy at this year's event.

What I love about the Mom Made Market Hawaii is that it's all about supporting local moms in business.  It's a great platform for moms to sell their goods and services, and it's a great place for moms to shop and socialize with other moms (and moms to be!).

There was a wide range of products available for purchase - clothing was definitely the most prevalent, but there were also jewelry, greeting cards, baby gear, personalized towels, farmhouse signs, essential oils, soaps, hat, bags, photography services, and food.  They also had performances, samples, storytelling, a few fun activities for the little ones!

Check their website and social media pages for updates on next year's event - you won't want to miss it!

Ballet Hawaii's Peter Pan Tea Party at Mariposa

Just as promised, my daughter and I were transported to Neverland with a magical tea party yesterday at the Mariposa restaurant in Neiman Marcus as a part of Ballet Hawaii’s special party package that included the tea party, VIP theatre seating with choice of performance day and parking at the Blaisdell.

The details that went into transforming the restaurant space were amazing and the tea menu itself was delicious.  My daughter loved her keepsake crocodile dressed in a pink tutu and was enchanted by the bottle of pixie dust.  We look forward to attending the ballet and I would definitely recommend attending any of Ballet Hawaii’s future tea parties.

Don't miss the show!  Ballet Hawaii presents a full production of Peter Pan, featuring choreography by Septime Webre, artistic director of The Washington Ballet, for three performances only on Friday, August 8 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, August 9 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, August 10 at 2:00 pm at Honolulu's Blaisdell Concert Hall. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased via the Blaisdell Center or at ticketmaster.com
