Ma`ona Musubi

One benefit of taking the kids to their dentist Saturday morning is that it is located in the same parking lot as the Pearlridge Farmer's market. So while I
eagerly wait the hopeful news of no cavities, I look around for something to snack on. The sight of musubi always draws me in so I stopped by Ma'ona Musubi and Donburi.

They have musubi in every variety, ranging from konbu to salmon to beef curry! There's definitely something for everyone. I always tend to choose a spicy tuna or ahi. They also had miso salmon donburi available so I picked up a couple for the kids' lunch. The kids really enjoyed them and I snuck in a bite and thought the salmon was very tasty.

While Ma`ona was a new discovery for me, I later found out they have a downtown location that’s been around for sometime is very popular.

Luau Bombs by Chef Whyweezy

A friend gave me the heads up about a new vendor at the farmers markets that sells Luau Bombs.  I went to their page on Instagram (@chefwhyweezy) and once I saw "Luau Bombs $5 each, corned beef w/onions", I knew I needed to try this!

I found them at Windward Mall's Farmer's Market on a Sunday morning and by the time I got there, they were sold out of everything except the corned beef and onions luau bombs.

The luau bombs were small in size, but not in taste. They put a very generous amount of corned beef in each bomb, and you can really taste the coconut milk flavor.

Next time I will need go earlier as their menu changes, and everything on the menu sounds amazing (e.g. butterfish lup chong, taro & sweet potato!!).

Check them out at the Pearlridge Farmer's Market on Saturdays and Windward Mall Farmer's Market on Sundays!

Baker Dudes at Pearlridge Farmers' Market

During a recent visit to the Pearlridge Farmers' Market, we picked up some goodies from Baker Dudes.

Baker Dudes offers a variety of breads, pastries, scones, and cookies.

I picked up a few things for a friend, and let my kids pick out a cookie flavor they could all agree upon.
Lilikoi Bread

Orange Zest Dark Chocolate Scones and Chocolate Coconut Scones

Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookies

I bought the Lilikoi Bread and Scones for a friend's family, and honestly - I was very tempted to keep the bread and one pack of scones for myself! Everything looked so yummy!

But I did resist temptation, and instead took a bite out of the cookies that my sons picked out. A pack of three humongous cookies were $6 (as were the bread and each pack of scones).

The cookies were surprisingly soft and chewy - just the way I like them!

Next time I go to Pearlridge Farmers Market and visit the Baker Dudes, I'll be smarter next time and buy some Lilikoi Bread and Scones for myself as well.

The Stick and the Ball Granola

Even though I've been following The Stick and the Ball on Instagram for a while, it wasn't until a recent visit to the Pearlridge Farmers' Market that I actually picked up a bag of their granola, which is made with natural and organic ingredients.

I actually planned on buying some for a family friend, but seeing that they offered small bags for just $5 each if you buy three or more, I couldn't resist buying a bag for myself!
I bought three flavors - Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Chip, Organic Goji Berry, and Organic Coconut Lavender.

I kept the Organic Goji Berry granola for myself.

The granola tastes amazing!  It's sweet, crunchy, with a touch of saltiness.

I ate it as is, but also used it on oatmeal...

in a parfait...

and as a muffin topping (click here for a Granola-topped Strawberry Mini Muffins recipe).

If you love granola, be sure to give The Stick and the Ball a try!

Pami's Desserts at Pearlridge Farmers' Market

I've been seeing so many mouth-watering posts on Instagram from Pami's Desserts, and I finally picked up some of their goodies at the Pearlridge Farmers' Market one recent Saturday.

Decisions, decisions...
Butter Mochi

Fudge Brownie

Cookie Monster Cupcakes
Each of my kids chose something to eat, and the only thing I had a chance to try was the Butter Mochi. I thought it was yummy, with a pleasant coconut-y taste.  My kids loved it as well.

My older son devoured the fudge brownie, and my youngest ate the entire Cookie Monster Cupcake, which meant he must've really loved it, because usually when it comes to cupcakes he just licks the frosting and that's it.

I didn't see any cheesecake on the menu, and hopefully the next time there will be, because I absolutely love cheesecake, and the cheesecakes on Pami's Desserts Instagram feed look divine!

Like Pami's Desserts on Facebook to find out what's on the menu at the Makiki Farmers' Market (Thu. 4:30PM - 7:30PM) or Pearlridge Farmers' Market (Sat. 8AM -12PM).
