Visit Boston: Patriot Place Play Action Pass

Patriot Place in Foxborough is a great place to visit for all sorts of shopping, dining, and activity options.

Adjacent to Gilllette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, it gets really crowded on game days (both home and away games).

During our visit, we purchased Play Action Passes.  For a low price, you get access to two attractions.  We took advantage of a winter special, which included two attractions for $18.50 per adult (regularly $22.00) and $14.75 per child (regularly $17.50), plus a winter skate bonus, and free Menchies for the kids!

For the two attractions, we chose 5 Wits ($29.99 per ticket) and Howl Splitsville Topgolf ($5 per game; $3 per shoe rental; free soft drink).

The Play Action Passes definitely turned out to be a deal, as we saved an average of $20 per person!

You can also choose from indoor cycling, Patriots Hall of Fame, a movie, and more!

If you're planning to spend the day at Patriot Place, consider getting the Play Action Pass!

Visit Boston: Howl Splitsville Topgolf

Howl Splitsville Topgolf in Patriot Place offered a brief respite from the extremely chilly weather.

The venue is a combination bar, bowling alley, and virtual golf center (other sports offered as well).

We went to Howl Splitsville Topgolf primarily to bowl.

There are three separate bowling areas throughout the bar.

It was a two-hour wait for a lane, so after roaming through Patriot Place, we got a text saying our lane was ready.
There is a table and seating area right behind the lane, so you can drink and eat in between turns at a strike.

It was a fun (and warm!) way to spend an afternoon!

Visit Boston: 5 Wits

5 Wits is an interactive adventure that's part escape-room, part role-play, part-theater.

We went to the Patriot Place location to take part in Espionage (another family was assigned to this mission as well).  In this mission, we were led by an agent as we traversed through lasers and air ducts to look for secret codes and solve puzzles to find out who was the mole in the agency.

Unlike an escape room, we did not have a time limit to solve various puzzles, and a staff member was with us the entire time to guide us through the mission, giving us clues when we got "stuck."
The kids seemed to enjoy figuring out the various puzzles and looking for hidden objects.
I personally prefer the more escape room-type experience, where we truly have to figure things out ourselves without prompts from an employee.

Also, because we were with another family, kids from that other family tended to not "share" the experiences with my kids (eg they always tried to be the first to take on a task without letting my kids have a turn).

Overall, I thought the experience was okay, but I hope to take the kids on a real escape room adventure one day.

Visit Boston: Bar Louie

While at Patriot Place, we decided to have lunch at Bar Louie.

Bourbon BBQ Burger
The Bourbon BBQ Burger was topped with housemade bourbon bbq sauce, cheddar, cream cheese, bacon, and onion strings.
Tortilla Soup
I was freezing, so I opted for Tortilla Soup for my lunch.  It was spicy and hearty, with chicken, avocado, and tortilla strips.
Loaded Tots.
I also got Loaded Tots, which were topped with queso, jalapenos, bacon, and green onions.  I think there should've been more queso and bacon, but the tots were nice and crispy.

A kids menu is available and includes a drink.
Kids Mac & Cheese

Kids Crispy Flatbread Cheese Pizza
Service was okay.  The kids pizza took an extremely long time to come out, and they were out of a lot of drinks on the board, but for the most part, the food was good.
