Honolulu Bistro

I've been dying to try the grilled cheese sandwiches at Honolulu Bistro for some time now, and I finally got my chance last week.  I placed my order online since I was in a rush, and by the time I arrived, it was boxed up and ready for pick up.

I tried the Pesto Delux and it was AMAZING! The sandwich was packed with gooey Mozzarella cheese - pretty much anyone can achieve that Instagrammable cheese pull with this sandwich.  If I wasn't eating on the run in my car, I would have added a bowl of homemade Tomato Basil Garlic Soup for dipping.

While I was here, I saw a lot of people ordering their blended smoothies. I'm definitely going to try one next time!

My favorites at Ohana Hale Marketplace

Ohana Hale Marketplace is an indoor hodge podge of all things Hawaii.  You can find smoothies, poke bowls, pizza, sandwiches, sushi, clothing, handbags, jewelry, ukuleles, facemasks, etc.  It's a great place to support local entrepreneurs, and it has some of the tastiest grinds in town.

Here are a few of my favorite food vendors in the Marketplace:

Ocean Taste - poke bowls

shoyu salmon

garlic ahi

Garibaldi's - pizza by the slice or whole

smoked meat and onions
Tacoholics Hawaii - street-style tacos

left: carnita asada           right: pollo

Fat Cheeks Hawaii - lemon curd tarts

Ocean Taste

Located in Ohana Marketplace, Ocean Taste serves ultra fresh poke bowls, chirashi  bowls, and house-made drinks at reasonable prices. I tried the shoyu onion poke bowl and  I was impressed with the freshness of salmon.

Bowls can be made with rice (sushi or brown), salad or nachos, or salad + rice. They also have bowls that come with avocado, crispy onions, house-made wasabi mayo, house-made garlic mayo, and you can add on extras like uni, ikura, shrimp tempura, 100% snow crab meat, or extra fish.  According to their Instagram posts, their ahi is fresh from the auction, never frozen.

Here's their current menu:

Ube Soft Serve at Tiny TV - Ohana Hale Marketplace

After having lunch nearby, @melissa808 and I decided to walk around Ohana Hale Marketplace.

While there we saw Tiny Tadani at his Tiny TV stand, where he offers Niu Brands's vegan ube soft-serve!

He gave us both a sample.

I never used to like ube anything, but I have since grown to enjoy it.

The Ube Soft Serve was light and refreshing, and not overly sweet.  It was just what I needed after a heavy, savory lunch.

Whether you are on a vegan diet or simply want a healthier sweet treat, check out the Tiny TV booth!
