Musubi Cafe Iyasume

I love stopping at Musubi Cafe Iyasume at Waikiki Beach Walk whenever I'm staying in Waikiki. They have a nice variety to choose from!

A musubi makes for an affordable meal, especially in Waikiki. What we got ranged in price from $2.48 (Umeboshi) to $4.98 (Eel, Avocado, Egg, SPAM). The total for everything pictured was $34.

Visit Kauaʻi: The Musubi Truck

Prior to heading to the Lihue airport, we decided we wanted a quick lunch, so we ordered from The Musubi Truck. They specialize in musubis, but offer bentos as well.

Deep Fried OG

Their signature Deep Fried OG is a SPAM Musubi that panko-crusted and deep-friend, drizzled with kabayaki and aioli, and sprinkled with furikake.  Delish!

Traditionalists can get an "OG" Musubi too - baked SPAM, furikake, and rice.

Lifeguard Bento

I thought the Lifeguard Bento options were interesting - tots, poke, and deep fried musubi.  I never had tots with poke or musubi before, but it worked!  I loved the tots (I chose Truffle tots) - they were nice and crispy!

A smaller Bento comes with rice, SPAM, kalbi, and miso chicken.

Miso Chicken Musubi

I got the Miso Chicken Musubi.  It was really tasty, and with kabayaki and aioli on the side.  It was a decent size and I could only eat half of it (one of my kids happily ate the other half).

Although the menu items are on the pricey side, the food was quality, delicious, and satisfying.  I was very happy we found The Musubi Truck before we left Kauaʻi!

Order online to avoid or minimize wait times.

Picnic tables and umbrellas are on site so you can eat; a misting system was in use at the time we went which is great for warm weather.

Ma`ona Musubi

One benefit of taking the kids to their dentist Saturday morning is that it is located in the same parking lot as the Pearlridge Farmer's market. So while I

eagerly wait the hopeful news of no cavities, I look around for something to snack on. The sight of musubi always draws me in so I stopped by Ma'ona Musubi and Donburi.

They have musubi in every variety, ranging from konbu to salmon to beef curry! There's definitely something for everyone. I always tend to choose a spicy tuna or ahi. They also had miso salmon donburi available so I picked up a couple for the kids' lunch. The kids really enjoyed them and I snuck in a bite and thought the salmon was very tasty.

While Ma`ona was a new discovery for me, I later found out they have a downtown location that’s been around for sometime is very popular.

For quick grab & go bites in Waikiki, head on over to Musubi Cafe Iyasumi.

You'll find a variety of musubis (SPAM, tuna, salmon, chicken, and more), as well as bentos and bowls.

We picked up a variety of musubis, as well as a Musubi Pack, which included your choice of musubi, fried chicken, sausage, and egg.

It's just the right amount of food, in my opinion, and the prices are very reasonable too!

Ever since Nat blogged about Mitsuwa Marketplace at the International Market Place, I've been wanting to check the place out, especially after she mentioned I need to try Hokkaido Ramen Santouka!

The ramen sure was delicious (although I was bummed they don't offer gyoza!).  My kids opted for musubis from Musubi Cafe Iyasume (no surprise there), and for dessert, two of them got ice cream, and one tried a mochi donut.

There is a limited number of tables in the shop, but it wasn't too crowded when we went on an early Friday evening.
