Visit Hong Kong: McDonald's

Of course we couldn't leave Hong Kong without trying a McDonald's!  We ordered takeout and walked the food back to the comfort of our hotel room since we were all exhausted after a long day of exploring.

Cheesy Champignon Angus

Honey BBQ Crispy Thighs

GCB
GCB is a grilled boneless chicken thigh.
Corn

Crispy Thighs
I had the Crispy Thighs and a side of Corn.  I was pretty impressed with the chicken - they were nice and crispy on the outside, and the meat was tender and juicy.  The pieces were pretty large too - I could only eat one before I got full.

Ginger & Soymilk Pie

Nestle Milo McFlurry

It's always fun to try out different menu items at McDonald's in other countries!

Visit London: McDonald's

I am one of those people who likes to visit McDonald's in different countries to see what kinds of special menu items they offer.  In London, we tried the following items, some of which were on the Limited Time menu at the time we visited, and some of which I've seen pop-up on menus in the US.
Veggie Dippers

I ordered the Chicken Selects and Veggie Dippers to share with one of my kids, and also opted to try the Sweet Curry and Cream & Chive Dip.
Big Tasty with Bacon

Cadbury Flake Chocolate McFlurry

The Veggie Dippers were a surprising hit with the kids, and of course they all loved the Cadbury Flake Chocolate McFlurry!

Visit Sydney: McDonald's

We always like to visit McDonald's in foreign countries to try their unique offerings, so of course we went to McD's, or "Macca's," as they like to call it in Australia.

In honor of FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, they had two new sauces - Wasabi Flavoured Mayo (my fave of the two - tasted just like hot mustard!), and Outback BBQ Sauce.
BBQ Bacon Angus

The BBQ Bacon Angus was topped with Aussie Jack cheese, bacon, grilled onion, BBQ sauce and McChicken® sauce.

Spicy Sticky BBQ Angus
The Spicy Sticky BBQ Angus consisted of Aussie Jack cheese, rasher bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, spicy sticky BBQ sauce and McChicken sauce.
McFeast
The McFeast is a popular Aussie burger, with cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickles, and three different sauces.
Raspberry & Custard Pie

I had an Aioli Chicken Wrap, along with some Mozzarella Sticks with Tomato Jam, and of course - Fries.

There are McDonald's all over Sydney!

New Pastries at McDonald's, and how to get one for free!

If you haven't already heard the news, McDonald's recently added three new pastries to their menu (cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, blueberry muffins), and now through November 9, 2020, you can get one free pastry per day with a purchase of any size McCafé Premium Roast or Iced Coffee.  You must have the McDonalds App on your smartphone in order to get this deal.

I normally don't buy coffee at McDonald's, but I could not pass up the opportunity to try their cinnamon roll for free, so I headed to Mcdonald's on the first day of this promotion and bought a cup of coffee for $1 (plus tax), and got a cinnamon roll for free (I ordered both items at the drive-thru, then flashed the QR code on the McDonald's app to the cashier so get the cinnamon roll for free).

I took a bite of the cinnamon roll when I first got it, and it was actually pretty good!  It did harden up after it cooled down, but a quick 15 seconds in the microwave softened it up again!

Don't forget, this deal ends on Monday, November 9!

Coming Soon to McDonald's Hawaii - The Lobster Roll

McDonald's of Hawaii will be offering the Lobster Rolls at select locations starting June 28. Yes, lobster rolls!

I was one of 100 lucky Frolic Hawaii readers to get in on the opportunity to experience the Lobster Roll at a special before the roll out on June 28. For $10, I got the Lobster Roll, medium fries, and a medium drink.

The Lobster Roll is made with 100% North Atlantic lobster tossed in a mayonnaise dressing, and served on a bed of lettuce on top a buttered bread roll (almost like a hot dog bun).

I was afraid that the lobster would be swimming in mayonnaise, but it was actually very light.  The lettuce was crisp and fresh, and the bun was nice and buttery.

The Lobster Roll, priced at $9.99, will only be available from June 28 through July, or while supplies last.

Visit Tokyo: Seasonal Menu at McDonald's

The first time my husband and I went to Tokyo, we visited McDonald's a lot.

Why?

100 yen Filet-O-Fish!

I had no plans on visiting McDonald's on our recent visit to Tokyo.  However, a friend that was in Tokyo at the same time posted a photo of one of the seasonal "only-in-Japan" menu items, so we decided to stop by at a McDonald's on the way back to our hotel one evening.

We ordered:

McShake Hokkaido Melon

McFizz Cherry

McFlurry Sakura

Shaka Shaka Potato Dried Shrimp & Salt
I loved everything!

The McShake Hokkaido Melon had a very pleasant melon flavor.  The McFizz was very refreshing (reminiscent of 7UP with a mild cherry flavoring).  The McFlurry Sakura had bits of waffle cone in it.  It was really good.  The shrimp fries were delicious.  The "shake and season" concept didn't seem to take off here in the US when it was introduced a few years ago, but apparently it's quite popular in Japan.  Simply dump the fries in a bag, sprinkle on the seasoning, and shake!

I'm glad we tried out the only-in-Japan seasonal items!
