Marvel Studios' Eternals Review

Marvel Studios’ Eternals debuted on digital last month, and is now available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 15. 

Synopsis
Marvel Studios’ Eternals follows a group of ancient heroes from beyond the stars who had protected Earth since the dawn of man. When monstrous creatures called Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

With an all-star cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie, Eternals tells the story of the origination of this select group of heroes.

I love the Marvel series, and although I was unfamiliar with the characters in Eternals, I was very interested in learning about them and how they intertwined with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole 

Throughout the movie, the Eternals battled Deviants in all sorts of settings, and if an Eternal succumbed to one, that Deviant would inherit the Eternal's special powers.  Evil ultimately consumed one of the Eternals, who threatened the demise of them all, but, good prevailed.

Eternals was full of action-packed scenes and special effects, and there was lots of humor throughout the movie (my son's favorite part was when a special drink was made with some peculiar ingredients).

Eternals is a must for any Marvels fan, and it was definitely a great family movie night film!

Marvel's Spidey and his Amazing Friends follows the adventures of Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales as they team up with Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Blank Panther to defeat the bad guys like Rhino, Doc Ock, and Green Goblin.  

I love this DVD because it the stories are funny, easy to understand for my sons, and also teach important life lessons like teamwork and being good citizens.

There is a lot of funny parts, and I often hear my sons laughing while they're watching the episodes.

My sons also get easily spooked, but not when they're watching Spidey and His Amazing Friends. The episodes are not scary at all, and I can let them watch with confidence that they won't get nightmares or learn bad habits or words.

Avengers: Infinity War Now Available on Blu-ray

I'm a huge Marvel fan, and one of the best movies I've seen all year was Avengers: Infinity War, which is now out on Blu-ray!

According to a press release, “Avengers: Infinity War shattered all opening records, surpassed the $2 billion mark at the global box office in just 48 days, and remains the fourth highest-grossing film of all time." 

We have an entire library of Marvel Studios Blu-rays, so I was extremely excitement to add Avengers: Infinity War to our collection.

The whole family was glued to the screen as we watched the Blu-ray.  We watched intently as all of our favorite characters appeared on screen (I love Iron Man!) in trying to prevent Thanos from obtaining all of the gems for the Infinity Gauntlet.

The kids were thrilled to have received an oven mitt, along with a recipe and tools to make Infinity Stone Sugar Cookies.  We will definitely be making some to eat while we watch Avengers: Infinity War on Blu-ray again.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Review - Now in Theaters

Spider-Man: Homecoming Synopsis (Rated PG-13):

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

My review:
Peter Parker/Spider-Man is ready and willing to go on a huge mission, but Tony Stark, his mentor, thinks otherwise.  Eager to resolve situations that will prove himself Avenger-worthy, Peter swings through New York City, searching for the bad guys, and trying to do good whenever possible.

Peter eventually stumbles upon an evil gang which has access to some of the most dangerous weapons he's ever seen - weapons that could do serious damage if in the wrong hands.  He tries telling Tony Stark about his discovery, but it seems as if Peter just continues to be ignored and dismissed.  Wanting to show Tony Stark once and for all that he can be more than just the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man," Peter sets out on his own to destroy the high-tech gun-toting villains.

But things don't go as planned.

Peter Parker ends up having to relinquish his suit, but ultimately realizes he doesn't need the high-tech Spider-Man suit to do good in the world.

I thought Tom Holland did a great job as Peter Parker/Spider-Man - someone pulled in so many directions, struggling with different identities, and torn with some of the typical teenage angst most highschoolers are known to feel.  I also thought it was fantastic watching local boy Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Peter Parker's best friend, on the big screen.  He provided a lot of the humor as he struggles in keeping his best friend's alternate identity a secret.

And I just love Robert Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man.  Always charming and witty, I enjoyed whenever he was on screen (although I didn't like the little quip Tony Stark made about bloggers!).

Spider-Man: Homecoming was full of action and adventure, with the right amount of humor, and an interesting revelation that I did not see coming.  

My kids really enjoyed the movie.  There were no really scary parts, and although some of the jokes went right over their heads, they liked all of the thrilling and comical scenes.

Be sure to stay for the end credits - the very end credits!
