BBQ Hut

I've seen ads numerous times for BBQ Hut, which is located in Kunia Shopping Center, and I finally had a chance to try this popular plate lunch spot when I met @melissa808 there recently.

Hut Special

Korean Fried Chicken & Kim Chee Fried Rice
I decided to make my own 2-choice combo with Korean Fried Chicken & Kim Chee Fried Rice.  With each plate, you get to choose 4 sides.  I chose two different types of potatoes, in addition to cucumbers and tofu.

It was so much food!  And everything was so tasty!  The Korean Fried Chicken was really good, and the Kim Chee Fried Rice had a lot of flavor.  I had enough leftovers to feed all three kids for dinner!

The Hut Special was enormous as well, consisting of shrimp, BBQ chicken, and BBQ Beef.

Bring your appetite to BBQ Hut!

Kunia Chinese Restaurant

Two of my kids tagged along with me when I recently met some of my co-workers at Kunia Chinese Restaurant in the Kunia Shopping Center.

Roast Pork

Chicken Fried Rice

Beef Chow Funn Gravy Style

Eggplant Tofu in Spicy Garlic Sauce

Honey Walnut Shrimp

Minute Chicken Cake Noodle
My personal fave was the Eggplant Tofu in Spicy Garlic Sauce.  It was not too spicy, but the flavors of the garlic sauce were really good.  One of my sons loved the fried rice, and another son loved the Minute Chicken Cake Noodle (I thought the chicken was very tasty) and the Chow Funn.

The Roast Pork is one of the restaurant's popular sellers, and my boss enjoyed it.

Service was good and I thought overall the food was quite good too!

Auntie Pasto's - Kunia

The last time I went to Auntie Pasto's was over a decade ago.  I went to the Kapahulu location, which has since closed.

Since we were in the area, we decided to take the family to the Kunia location.

Complimentary Bread
Fried Eggplant

Chicken Milanese Sandwich
Lunch Pasta Combo:
Caesar Salad

Lasagna

Kids Mac & Cheese
The Fried Eggplant was underseasoned, and so was my Chicken Milanese sandwich.  Even the sauce that accompanied the sandwich seemed underseasoned.  The chicken was tender and juicy, it's just too bad it lacked any flavor.  The focaccia bread was good, and I liked that the sandwich was packed with a lot of fresh veggies.

My husband ordered the Lasagna lunch combo.  Served 11 to 3pm daily, you can choose your choice of pasta, which is served with a lunch-size portion of Caesar Salad.  The lasagna was huge!

Kids meals are very reasonably-priced (the Mac & Cheese was just $4.95), and include a drink (refills extra; milk, chocolate milk, and lemonade are also extra).

Service was very slow (we were the first ones seated, and we did not get our meals until 40 minutes later!  Thankfully we were able to eat complimentary bread (one free refill), but the bread wasn't that great either.  The bread was chewy and cold.

However, our server was very friendly, and I'd give them another try in the future, but maybe next time I'd stick to pizzas or pastas.
