Visit Kona: The Original Donkey Ball Store

While on the Big Island we decided to visit The Original Donkey Ball Store.

What exactly are Donkey Balls?

They're chocolate-covered macadamia nuts.  And they're yummy!

Donkey Balls come in a variety of flavors in fun names that may make you blush (or cringe), like Blue Balls, Minty Balls, Crusty Balls, and Dirty Balls - but they sure are delish!

At The Original Donkey Ball Store you'll also find Monkey Balls (malted), Goat Balls (caramel), Chickin' Nuts (macadamia nuts), and so much more!

You can even watch the confections being made in the Ball Room!

The Original Donkey Ball Store is a great stop for omiyage!

Visit Kona: Rebel Kitchen

During our recent trip to Kona, we had lunch at Rebel Kitchen.

Rebel Burger

Nacho Fries

Chicken Fajita Wontons

Cuban Rolls

Carnitas Salad

I couldn't get enough of the Cuban Rolls! Pork, ham, pickles, and Swiss were rolled up and deep fried, and drizzled with a very tasty house mustard sauce.

One of my sons loved the Chicken Fajita Wontons, which were stuffed with chicken, black beans, corn, and cheese, and then drizzled with avocado cream.

The Nachos Fries were as yummy as they looked!  Fries were topped with Big Island grass-fed steak, black beans, corn, cheese, fresh tomato salsa and avocado cream.

The Rebel Burger was topped with Swiss, bacon, tomato, pickles, onions, and a spicy pineapple coleslaw.

I thought the food and service were both great!  Rebel Kitchen was a nice spot for lunch.  I'd definitely revisit!
