Arancino on Beachwalk Lunch Specials + Kamaʻāina Discount

Arancino on Beachwalk offers a daily lunch special for $28, which includes a soup or salad and an entree.  And if you're Kamaʻāina, just show a valid Hawaiʻi ID and the price is reduced to $21!

Complimentary Focaccia

Insalata alla Cesare

Zuppa di Aragosta

Pizza con Salame Piccante

Spaghetti con Tobiko e Calamari

Panino con Mortadella

I had the salad and the sandwich combo.  I liked that the salad incorporated anchovies, and the dressing had a nice balance of umami and acidity.  I thought the pistachio paste on the sandwich was under-seasoned, but overall, the sandwich was good.

The lunch special is quite a good deal if you're local, especially in Waikiki.

Kama'aina Deals at Arancino Di Mare

For a limited time, Arancino Di Mare is offering Kama'ainas 20% off all menus, and 50% off Weekend Lunch Specials.

We took advantage of this amazing deal by ordering the spaghetti bolognese for take-out last weekend. This meal is normally $26, but we got it for $13 with our local ID.  Not only is the price right, but the food is delicious!!

We got ours for take-out, but the restaurant is open for dine-in customers. They have a nice outdoor seating area, and the restaurant goes through great lengths to make your dining experience as safe as possible.

ShoreFyre Grill & Bar at the International Market Place

On a recent adventure through the streets of Waikiki, we stopped at ShoreFyre in the International Market Place to get something to eat.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

What's great about ShoreFyre is that they have both indoor and outdoor seating, a menu full of local favorites, and they offer a discount for Kamaainas.

Since we came mid-day, we were allowed to order off both the breakfast and lunch menu, which was great since one of our twins wanted breakfast, and the other one wanted lunch.

Side Order Pancake

What we found odd was that the pancake was served like this (see above) - no butter or syrup. We had to ask for it, which they delivered upon our request, but I can't think of any other place that will deliver a pancake to your table sans syrup.

Duke Burger
The hubby and I shared the Duke Burger and ShoreFyre shrimp, which were both EXCELLENT choices.  The burger was juicy and served on a grilled bun. The shrimp was prepared "Kahuku" style and was just as tasty as the shrimp you can get from the shrimp trucks on the North Shore.

Kamaʻaina Thursdays at The Kahala

Did you know that on Thursday evenings, local residents (Kamaʻainas) have access to a specially priced promotional menu at the Plumeria Beach House at The Kahala?

It's a great way to enjoy the food and ambiance of the Plumeria Beach House at a reasonable price.

For $49 (plus tax and gratuity), Kamaʻainas can feast on unlimited servings of salads and desserts, and their choice of entree.

Bread and lavosh are complimentary - we powered through two baskets throughout our meal service.

You can make your own tossed green salad with all the dressings and fixins.

I opted for the Chinese chicken salad, which is always my favorite salad.

For entrees, two of us ordered the braised short ribs. It was very tender - no knife needed!

Another person ordered the Catch of the Day Hong Kong Style. Today's Catch was mahi mahi - she liked it a lot.  It was moist and was accompanied with a nice serving of vegetables.

My friend who works at the hotel ordered the Poached Butterfish, which she often orders when dining here. The butterfish was very flaky and buttery.

Not long after we finished our entrees, we headed for the dessert bar and tried a taste of each dessert.

Kamaʻainas - catch this special deal on Thursdays at the Plumeria Beach House!

4 hours of free parking with restaurant validation.  Book your reservation on OpenTable.com

Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites

A few years ago I stayed at the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites for the first time, and was very impressed.

Almost three years later, not much has changed, as I recently stayed at the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites again, and was once again impressed.

The Luxury Junior Suite Ocean View had a king bed, queen sofa bed, LCD TV, and a fully-equipped designer kitchen with stainless steel appliances, Italian cabinets, and granite counter tops.

The dreamy bed was welcoming after long nights of work events.

The bathroom was large with plenty of vanity space.

And the views from the balcony - no filter needed!

I felt right at home!

Dining is just an elevator ride away at Cinnamon's at the Ilikai.  There's also an ice cream shop, fitness center, convenience store, coffee shop, spa, and more right on property!

A daily amenity fee includes such perks as complimentary Waikiki trolley rides, free Wi-Fi, Macy's shopping discount, Blu-Ray/DVD Player and Playstation 3 Console and rentals, complimentary newspaper, and so much more!

The Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites is ideal whether you're staying for business or pleasure!

Yauatcha Waikiki to Close on August 31

When I heard the news that Yauatcha Waikiki would be closing at the end of the month, I was shocked and saddened.

Ever since our first visit there, we became fans, and have visited several times since.

Once the news broke about the upcoming closure (August 31), we immediately made reservations to dine there one last time.

Prawn Bean Curd Cheung Fun

Char Siu Bun

Spinach Ball with Prawn and Cuttlefish

Crispy Prawn Dumpling

Shanghai Siew Long Bun

Roasted Duck Pumpkin Puff

Venison Puff

We ordered all of our faves, with the Spinach Ball being the only new menu item we tried, based on the suggestion of our server.

Everything was fabulous (the Prawn Bean Curd Cheung Fun is still my all-time fave - I could eat an entire tray by myself!).

The food and service were both amazing.

We're going to miss Yauatcha!
