Crispy Grindz

We've passed the Crispy Grindz food truck numerous times, but it wasn't until recently that we tried it.

They offer both sweet and savory foods.

Pastel

Pastels are essentially deep fried won ton wraps with all sorts of fillings.  They are huge, and may be difficult to finish in one sitting (I could barely finish a 1/3 at one time, and one of my kids could only finish half - we of course saved the rest for later).

I had the Brazilian Pastel, which was filled with corn, bacon, and ground beef - very delicious!

Coxinha

I loved the Coxinha, which are deep fried balls filled with chicken. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and the surrounding dough was perfectly crisp on the outside.  They were so tasty!

Pao de Queijo

I loved the Pao de Quejio as well.  This Brazilian cheese bread was just addicting - I could've eaten the entire bowl!

Crispy Grindz is definitely now a new-to-me fave in Haleiwa!

Kula Shave Ice

Kula Shave Ice began in Hilo, Hawaii and now has a mobile trailer location parked next to Farm to Barn in Haleiwa.  Their syrups are handcrafted with only fresh organic fruit, organic cane sugar or raw honey.  Their ice is made from purified alkaline water and shaved super fine.  They also serve up cold brew coffee and lattes. 

We made it about half an hour before closing and there was a constant line to attest to Kula Shave Ice’s popularity.  I got a regular Kula Rainbow without vanilla ice cream because they were sold out.  The flavors were blueberry, strawberry, and mango.  I also opted for a snow cap (condensed milk) and homemade mochi.  The shave ice was delicious and I especially loved the organic blueberry syrup.  The mochi was super yummy too.  I laughed when I saw that my daughter and I both saved a piece of mochi for our last bite. We will definitely be back.

North Shore Tacos

If you're craving Mexican food while on the North Shore, check out the North Shore Tacos Food Truck.

They offer nachos, burritos, quesadillas, and even a kids menu!  My son ordered the Two Surfin' Tacos from the regular menu.

Two Surfin' Tacos

You get your choice of corn or flour tortillas, and chips and salsa or rice and beans.

The tacos were stuffed with beef, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, and their signature sauce.

My son devoured the entire plate of tacos, chips and salsa in no time. 

I love Mexican food, so next time I'm definitely ordering something for myself too.

Shark's Cove Grill

On New Year's Day we went to the North Shore to find some food truck fare.

One of the food trucks we ended up at was Shark's Cove Grill.

Hurricane Fries

Everything was so good!  The Hurricane Fries were my fave - topped with a spicy aioli and sprinkled with furikake.

The same spicy aioli topped the crispy pork belly, which I also loved.  

The food truck had a late start, and one of the employees kept apologizing for the wait, and even gave us complimentary bottles of water because of the delay, which was very refreshing considering another nearby food truck that shall remain nameless (but if you search online it'll be easy to find out which food truck) had one of the rudest employees I've ever witnessed and encountered.

I highly recommend Shark's Cove Grill for delicious food and great service!
