Visit Hilo: Fairway Grill

The Fairway Grill is one of my go-to spots for great food in Hilo.  It's a golf club restaurant, and I think most golf club restaurants are an overlooked dining option.

Club House Melt

A fave of the mine is the Club House Melt.  Yes, it's basic, but always good and satisfying.  The sandwich was stuffed with turkey, ham, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion.

Prime Rib Dip

My friend appreciated that the prime rib had mushrooms, but he thought the prime rib itself tasted a bit freezer burnt.

Despite that, I'm positive we'll be back.  The service is always super friendly and it isn't hard to find something delicious on the menu!

I think country clubs offer some of the best food throughout the islands, and Pukalani Country Club is no exception!

Onion Rings

Kalua Pork Bao Buns

The Kalua Pork Bao Buns were delicious, and it went really well with the chili pepper water that was on the table.  

Bleu Cheese and Bacon Burger

The Bleu Cheese and Bacon Burger was a special of the day, and my friend really liked it.  He was very impressed with the burger, which was not one of those pre-made, pre-frozen burgers. 

Apple Cinnamon Crumble Cheesecake

The restaurant had a slew of homemade desserts being offered, and I opted for the Apple Cinnamon Crumble Cheesecake.

It was amazing!  It was rich and dense, and the crumble itself was so yummy!  It was one of the best cheesecakes I've had in a while!

Service was just as amazing, and my co-worker and I thought Pukalani Country Club was one of the best places we ate at during our work trip to Maui.

The last time I went to the restaurant at the Leilehua Golf Course, it was The Grill. The restaurant recently renovated and is now 604 Clubhosue, which is part of the 604 Restaurant family.

They have a nice variety of options on the menu, from wings to burgers, pastas and fish.

I had the Chicken Marsala, which had a surprising sweetness to it, but it was so delicious.  The chicken was tender and so flavorful!

Everyone loved their meals and ate everything up, and the service was very warm and friendly.

During dinner, there is live music (daily), and on the night we went, there was Hawai`iki performing.  They were fantastic!

If you dine during the live music, it is pretty loud, so conversing with your tablemates is nearly impossible, but 604 Clubhouse is a great place to enjoy live music and great food.

Breakfast at Kapolei Golf Club Restaurant

Lately I've been finding some great breakfast eats at golf club restaurants, and my recent visit to Kapolei Golf Club Restaurant continued that streak.

Buttermilk Pancake

I opted for the Fried Rice, which was full of bacon, Portuguese sausage, lup cheung, and topped with an egg. It was very tasty, and had a bit of a spicy kick. It was a very large serving - I only finished about a third of it!

My son couldn't decide between bacon and eggs and pancakes, so he opted for the Island Breakfast, so he could eat all three things. The breakfast comes with two eggs, choice of meat, and choice of starch (fried rice and pancakes are extra). It sure was a lot of food - he ate all of his pancake, and some of the bacon and eggs.

My friend enjoyed her Eggs Benedict.

Service was great, and I definitely want to go back to try out the lunch and Happy Hour menu!
