Double Fat Ice Cream at 'Alohilani Resort

Double and Half Double

During a recent staycation in Waikiki, I made it a point to check out Double Fat ice cream. Double Fat is located outside of the Alohilani hotel and features Chef Brandon Lee’s locally made small batch ice cream.

Double Fat offers Double and Half Double sizes of their ice creams and sorbets with a choice of toppings as well as two different sundae options. They are known for their unique ice cream flavors and I was dying to try their grasshopper pie. It had a strong mint flavor at first bite, but it completely meshes as you savor the ice cream. My son had the salted caramel banana and chocolate which he loved.

Get your Double Fat ice cream fix daily from 5pm to 9pm.  The cherry on top is that 'Alohilani will validate parking for two hours!

Double Fat Fried Chicken Debuts at Wang Chung's Friday and Saturday

Double Fat Ice Cream is celebrating turning 1 with a new concept!  I was fortunate to attend a Media Preview for the unveiling - Double Fat Fried Chicken!

Double Dry Fried Chicken Sandwich

Double Wet Fried Chicken Sandwich

Half Double Dry Fried Chicken Sandwich

Half Double Wet Fried Chicken Sandwich

Chicken Tenders

Tater Tots

Dipping Sauces (Dan Dan, Double Fat Crack Sauce, Golden Ranch, Tamarind BBQ)

Tonight (Friday, March 4) starting at 7p and Saturday (March 5) starting at 1p Wang Chung's, join in on the celebration and get your hands on the following:
  • Double Dry Fried Chicken Sandwich
  • Double Wet Fried Chicken Sandwich
  • Half Double Dry Fried Chicken Sandwich
  • Half Double Wet Fried Chicken Sandwich
  • Chicken Tenders
  • Tater Tots
  • Dipping Sauces (Dan Dan, Double Fat Crack Sauce, Golden Ranch, Tamarind BBQ)
The chicken sandwiches were humongous and so delicious! They were crispy on the outside, tender & juicy on the inside, and so tasty (the Wet glaze was sweet + sour with a spicy kick)!

And the tots - they were perfect! If I had to choose a favorite dipping sauce, it was the Crack Sauce.

If you can't make it this Fri & Sat, they will be having quarterly pop-ups at Wang Chung's.

Congrats Chef Will Chen and Chef Brandon Lee!
