Kamitoku Ramen's Food Truck

Found another great deal for lunch on the University of Hawaii Manoa Campus today ....

Kamitoku Ramen is another food truck on campus that rotates locations throughout upper campus each day.

Today (Thursday) I found them at the Post building, and this sign advertising $6.92 for a Beefy Rice Bowl caught my eye.

Kamitoku Ramen is really known for their Beefy ramen bowls, but as I was standing in the hot and humid sun trying to decide between the $6 beefy bowl and $8 bowl of hot ramen, I decided it was too hot for ramen, so I opted for the less expensive Beefy Bowl.

It was a great deal for $6.92 (it actually came out to $7.25 after tax).  It's hard to tell from this overhead shot of my bowl, but they put a fair amount of marinated beef on top of a bed of white rice. They also include a small amount of green onions, bean sprouts and menma.

Their current schedule is as follows:
  • Post (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
  • Krauss (Wednesday)

They also serve their beef bone ramen and other items at Shirokiya Japan Village Walk in Ala Moana Center.

Da Spot

At Da Spot in Moiliili, you'll find a menu of flavorful entrees, sandwiches, salads, smoothies, side dishes, and desserts. Not only is everything delicious, but everything is affordable! Main dishes start at $6.00 for a mini plate, which includes two scoops of saffron or brown rice and tossed salad.

Another great deal on the menu is the $6 acai bowl.  Yes, you read right ... $6! And it's a hefty serving of acai too!

Don't forget to save room for the baklava!

Musubi & Bento IYASUME - Waikiki

Since we were staycationing right next door, our family picked up lunch from Musubi & Bento IYASUME.

They have a vast selection of musubis, bentos, and bowls, all at very reasonable prices.

And despite the compact nature of all the items, you will end up full and satisfied!

Ground Chicken Rice Ball
Bacon, Egg, SPAM, & Cheese Musubi

SPAM & Egg Musubi

Sliced Fried Chicken Mayo Bowl
The tiny shop has a such a large selection of items to choose from (be sure to look carefully - they have menus and pictures all over the place!). Everyone in my family opted for at least one musubi (they each enjoyed their selections), but I decided to get the fried chicken bowl. Rice was topped with chicken, mayo, seaweed, and a spicy sauce. It was so delicious, and so filling (I got a mini). I want to try and replicate it at home!

The woman who was working advised us they get deliveries of musubis twice a day, and if they run out of specific ones you want they can put in an order for you.

This location is cash only, but you won't need much - everything is so cheap (for us our total was less than $20 for everything we ordered).

Musubi & Bento IYASUME is a welcome find in Waikiki!
