Visit Tokyo: Natsunoie

After spending some time at Hanayashiki Amusement Park, we were hungry.  As soon as we walked out one of the exits, we stumbled upon Natsunoie, and decided to have lunch there.

We ordered set meals, which come with a choice of entree, miso soup, rice, and tsukemono.

I ordered the Pork Cutlet on Rice.  It was tasty and filling.

Kids meals come in a cute bullet train dish, and includes a toy!

Service was very friendly, despite the language barrier, and the food was satisfying!

Upon visiting the Sensoji temple in Asakusa, we roamed the eateries and ate all sorts of little bites.  In addition to Deep-Fried Manju from Asakusa Kokonoe, we also indulged in the following:

Visit Tokyo: Hanayashiki Amusement Park

Hanayashiki is the oldest amusement park in Japan!

This very small amusement park packs a lot of rides into a compact area.

On top of an admission fee, there is a ticket cost per ride.  If you plan to stay at the amusement park for a while and go on multiple rides multiple times, get the Free Ride Pass, which is basically a wristband for unlimited rides. 

We bought the kids wristbands, and bought a few single tickets in case we wanted (or needed) to ride certain rides with them. 

Hanayashiki was fairly crowded (we were there during Tokyo's spring break), but for the most part, lines were very short with minimal wait times.  The longest line one of my kids waited in was for the Roller Coaster (approximately 45 minutes).

My youngest absolutely loved the House of Surprise, but he disliked the Haunted House (it was a little creepy, but nothing too extreme).

On site is an arcade, as well as games and eateries.

Although there are a few "extreme" rides, for the most part, the rides are very kid-friendly.

Hanayashiki was a fun place to spend a few hours!

Visit Tokyo: Sensoji

Sensoji is Tokyo's oldest temple, having opened in 645.

After entering through the Kaminarimon and walking along the Akasuka Nakamise Shopping street, we, we approached the Hōzōmon and made a quick walk-through of the temple grounds to take photos of the five-story pagoda and the surrounding blooms.

It's a very picturesque area, and I hope on the next visit we'll get to explore more of the temple grounds.

Visit Tokyo: Asakusa Kokonoe

Asakusa Nakamise is a shopping center that stretches from the Kaminarimon Gate to the Hozomon Gate of the Sensoji Temple.  The street is lined with a variety of shops selling all types of wares and food.  We stopped at Asakusa Kokonoe to try the famous deep-fried manju.

I am not a fan of manju at all, but I just had to try!

I opted for the Sakura manju (of course!).  I liked the crispy, outer layer, but the sakura filling was just not to my liking.  I liked the pumpkin one a lot better.
