Visit Tokyo: Tsukada Nojo

Whenever we were looking for somewhere to eat in Tokyo, I simply Google mapped "restaurants near me."  While in Akihabara, I found Tsukada Nojo had great ratings and was just a few minutes away by foot, so we went searching for it.

This restaurant chain specializes in farm to table ingredients, with a focus on Miyazaki Jito chicken.
Appetizer - French Onion Soup
Upon being seated, we were given an appetizer of French Onion Soup.  It was a great way to start off the meal!

Famous Miyazaki Jito Chicken Charcoal - Grilled
We had to try the Famous Miyazaki Jito Chicken, Charoal-Grilled.  It may not look like much, but it is so huge on flavor.
Dashimaki
Only limited quantities of the Tsukadama Superb Dashimaki are made each day, so we made sure to get one!

Chicken Nanban

Satowara Eggplant Grilled in Butter and Soy Sauce

Maximum Potato with Sweet Soy Sauce Mayo
I don't know what kind of seasoning they put on the fries, but whatever it was, it was so addicting! They were some of the best fries I ever had!

Osugi Shiitake Mushroom Meatballs Nanban

Cheese Cheese Frit Aonori
The Fried Cheese with Seaweed was really delicious!  If I wasn't already so full, I would've ordered more!

Free Range Chicken Fried Rice

Famous Miyazaki Jito Chicken Charcoal Grilled - Spicy
One of my kids liked the charcoal-grilled chicken so much, he wanted another order!  We got the spicy the second time around, and it was really good!

We were able to get seated upon walking in, and the service was quite good.  Ordering is done online, and although there was an issue with the second order of the chicken (we had to wait a really long time for it so not sure if the order was overlooked, but the server was apologetic), I would happily eat there again - and order everything again!

Visit Tokyo: Akihabara Sweets

While in Akihabara, we made a quick stop for sweets:

Strawberry Whip Brulee Donut from Jack in the Donut - this was so good!!  I don't care for pastries and donuts, but the sweet strawberry filling, and the crispy, sugary donut was just so yummy!

Cookies & Cream, Custard Cream, Strawberry Cream Cream Puffs from Beard Papa.
I've only eaten Beard Papas once before when they were in Hawaii - I forgot how good they were! I really liked the Strawberry Cream.

Jack in the Donuts and Beard Papas, along with a number of other sweets vendors, are all located in a row of eateries.  You'll have no problem finding something sweet to eat!

Visit Tokyo: Tokyo Leisureland

We knew we couldn't leave Tokyo without visiting Tokyo Leisureland.  My kids could play video games all day (and night!) long.  So while in Akihabara, we made a quick visit.

This Tokyo Leisureland has multiple levels of video games.  My kids went straight for the racing and fighting games.

Most games are just 100 yen, but it's easy to get carried away and spend a lot of money, so we really limited our time there.

Although I'm not into video games like my kids are, I welcomed a visit, just so I could find a seat and sit.  Luckily, Tokyo Leisureland wasn't very crowded, so it was easy for me to find a seat to relax.

Visit Tokyo Leisureland if you love all things gaming!

Visit Tokyo: Akihabara aka Electric Town

Akihabara, aka "Electric Town," is home to numerous electronic stores and arcades.  We visited the area a few times to shop at Super Potato and eat at Gundam Cafe.

We went once during the day, but at night it's just so much more fun to visit!

One thing that we experienced a lot in Akihabara during this trip that we didn't experience the first time we went to Tokyo was the prevalence of people passing out flyers for Maid Cafes.

Despite that, Akihabara was still a fun place to visit!

Visit Tokyo: Super Potato

Super Potato in Akihabara is a must-stop for video game lovers.  This video game store chain has several locations throughout Japan, and the Akihabara location is the flagship store.

Specializing in classic Nintendo, Super Potato fills two floors with consoles, video games, accessories, toys, and other video game-related merchandise.

You can even play classic Nintendo games at a couple of stations on 3F.

5F is a game center of retro games.  Classic games can be played for 100 yen.  You can also find lots of snacks for sale on 5F.

The arcade was a little hot, and there is a smoking area in the back of the room, so we didn't stay very long to play games.

But we did purchase a lot of stuffed toys at Super Potato for my kids to add to their collections!

Visit Tokyo: Gundam Cafe

There are many character-themed restaurants throughout Tokyo, and one that we visited was Gundam Cafe in Akihabara.

Based on the TV series about futuristic robots, the cafe is decked out with robot displays and toys, and also features a TV screen on which customers can watch the series.  Even the restrooms are super cool!

Of course, the menu revolves around this popular Japanese series.

Gundam Cafe Original Butter Chicken Curry

Hyaku-Shiki Omelette Rice

Intertwining Beasts

Sha Mi and Lewis's Love Tactics Pizza

Coward and Female Spy
Not being familiar with Gundam at all, I have no idea what all of the interesting menu names referred to, but I enjoyed the presentation!

I ordered the Butter Chicken Curry.  The cheese-topped curry was delicious, but I thought the portion of chicken in the curry was not enough.  There were just a few tiny pieces.

My husband had the Intertwining Beasts - Parmesan Penne with a Hamburger Steak with Squid Ink Sauce, and Fried Fish with a Basil sauce.

My middle son ate up the Omelette Rice, which was covered in Beef Stew.  My oldest and youngest son shared the Bacon and Cheese Pizza and basket of Fried Fish and Chicken.

We also tried a couple of beverages:

Strawberry Calpis

Strawberry Lassie Wind

The Strawberry Lassie Wind was refreshing - like a strawberry milk!

Gundam Cafe was a cool spot to dine at!
