Chubbies Burgers

If you've got the craving for a juicy, mouthwatering, burger made with quality ingredients, head down to Ward Gateway (corner of Auahi Street and Ward Ave) to Chubbies Burgers.

This food truck, owned and operated by Jeffrey Nedry, has been serving classic-style made-to-order burgers and fries at various locations on the island for the past two years, but it is now permanently located at Ward Gateway for the time being.

The menu is simple - three options for burgers, three options for fries. But deciding on what to order is not so simple, because they all look and sound so delicious!

I was fortunate enough to try the 50's Burger (their biggest seller) and the Ten Gallon burger, Fries, and the Chub Fries.

The 50's Burger comes with american cheese, lettuce, tomato, and their signature 50's sauce. If you want to spruce up the burger, you have the option of adding toppings such as bacon, avocado, grilled onions, pickles, or jalapenos for an additional charge.

If you like bbq sauce, you'll want to try the Ten Gallon burger, which comes with bacon, grilled onions, cheddar, and strip sauce (house bbq sauce). I really liked this burger because of the cheddar cheese, bacon, and bbq sauce.

Chubbies utilizes the traditional method of smashing to produce perfectly juicy burgers. Cold beef is pressed on a hot griddle, thereby forming a crispy crust on one side. This locks in the juice and flavor, creating a perfectly cooked burger.

Chubbies takes pride in using local ingredients as much as possible, including using local grass-fed, Kauai pasture raised beef hormone/antibiotic free, all natural, premium grind angus.

The signature crinkle cut Fries are crispy and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt.

Although I'm usually a purist when it comes to fries, I was impressed with the Chub Fries, which consists of their signature crinkle cut fries topped with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and their specialty fry sauce. It's a must-try!
