Sakura Mililani

Our family recently dined at Sakura in Mililani, which opened up just a few months ago.

I decided to order a couple of appetizers for my entree (which I also shared) - the Gyoza and Furikake Chicken. I enjoyed both dishes. I thought the furikake was going to be sprinkled on the chicken instead of just in the creamy coconut mayonnaise, but I really liked the chicken. It had a light, crispy coating on the outside, and the chicken was tender on the inside.

Dinner Bentos come with miso soup, salad, and rice.

Each of my kids ordered the Keiki Bento Box, which includes edamame, rice, French fries, and choice of chicken katsu, teriyaki chicken, or vegetable tempura (they all chose chicken katsu). A kids sushi bento box and hibachi options are also offered.

If you prefer teppanyaki, you can request to sit at the hibachi station, where a chef will entertain you while he cooks up your food. You can also sit at the bar or sushi bar.

I don't really care for tempura desserts (the restaurant offers Fried Banana Tempura, Tempura Fried Ice Cream, and Tempura Fried Cheesecake), so I skipped dessert, but my kids didn't! They ordered ice cream and mochi ice cream.

I thought the service was great, and so was the food.

If you're in the Mililani area and craving Japanese food, check out Sakura!
