Visit San Francisco: 7D Experience DarkRide at PIER 39

The 7D Experience DarkRide at PIER 39 may be short, but it sure is thrilling!

Just what exactly is the 7D Experience DarkRide?  It's basically a 3D movie / ride / video game.

Visitors can pick one of four DarkRides to experience.

Our family chose Road Fighters - a futuristic adventure in which you assist a driver in transporting scarce, extremely valuable food, while fighting off gruesome, fearless road pirates.

After a quick briefing, we entered a 20-seat theater.  Our family had the entire theater to ourselves - plus a skeleton.

We buckled ourselves into the seats, put on 3D glasses, and got our laser gun ready.

After a quick practice session, the mission began!

The DarkRide was very loud and fast-paced.  We all shot away at the road pirates while the seats rattled around and shifted from left to right and front to back from all of the explosions and flying road pirates on screen.

The experience was like being on a simulated roller coaster, fighting off attackers from all corners.

The road pirates looked a little scary, but the kids had fun blasting them away.

The DarkRide is about 5 minutes long, and at the end of the experience, the players and scores are displayed on screen in order of most to least.

Tickets for the DarkRide are $12 each, but discounted packages are available.

The 7D Experience DarkRide may have been brief, but it sure was a bunch of fun!

If you're visiting PIER 39 while in San Francisco, be sure to check it out!
