A Trip to Barnes & Noble with the Kids

It took a long time for my daughter to develop a love for reading so when she finally found books she was interested in, I bought all of them.  Now, you won't see her without a book and I absolutely love it.  I loved reading as a child and I'm happy to see her enjoy that imaginative world as well.

For Christmas she received a gift card to Barnes & Noble which was just burning a hole in her little pocket.  My son, who also loves books, was just as excited for a trip to the bookstore.  Two kids jumping to go to the bookstore.  Seemed a bit too good to be true for me, but off we went.  We were derailed with a flat tire and didn't arrive at the mall until 9pm, but luckily Barnes & Noble is open until 11pm.  That was the best news of my night.

We visited the children's section which was really well organized.  My daughter could easily peruse the chapter books available and my son could look at the appropriate books for his age group.  I'm not really a fan of the amount of toys they have in the children's section only because it was a bit of a distraction for my son.  Thankfully, he changed his mind on the Star Wars stuffed animal and swapped it for a Minecraft guide instead.

I purchase most books online because of convenience, but a visit to Barnes & Noble was an excellent experience for my children because they could see and touch the books they were interested in and make a decision on their own.  Granted I should take them to a library, but in my weak defense, I haven't found one that is open until 11pm and located near a La Palme D'Or. ;)

Barnes & Noble is located on the first floor of Ala Moana Shopping Center and is open daily for 9am to 11pm.
