Lighthouses in Maine

While in Maine, we drove along the coast to view a couple of lighthouses - Goat Island Lighthouse and Cape Neddick Lighthouse.

The Goat Island Lighthouse was quite far away and harder to see than the Cape Neddick Lighthouse, but both were equally charming.

There were many, many lighthouses to see along the coast of Maine, but because we had less than a full day in the state, we only got to see a couple of lighthouses.  

Hopefully we'll get to visit again and see more!

Kittery Trading Post Fudge

A very popular stop in Maine is the Kittery Trading Post.

This enormous store specializes in outdoor gear, but we stopped there because of the huge selection of omiyage.

Kittery Trading Post offers all sorts of made-in-New England goods ranging from health and beauty products to food.

They also offer handmade fudge in a variety of flavors!

I'm not a huge fan of fudge, but we had to pick up a block!

We chose the Vanilla with Sprinkles, OREOs, and Pop Rocks!

It was a little to sweet for me, but the kids loved it!

If you find yourself in Maine, definitely stop by Kittery Trading Post for fudge and omiyage!

Our Maine ice cream stop took us to Rococo Ice Cream in Kennebunkport.

Rococo handcrafts ice cream in a variety of compelling flavor combinations.

I opted for the Horchata Rum Cake.  The Mexican-inspired ice cream had chunks of rum cake, and it was so amazing!

My husband ordered the Goat Cheese Blackberry Chambord, which is a very popular flavor at the shop.

There is a very tiny seating area inside the shop for you to eat your ice cream, but there are benches outside as well.

I wish I could go back and try all of the different flavors of Rococo's artisan ice cream!

Visit Maine: Robert's Maine Grill

While in Maine, my husband sought out a restaurant that would serve a delicious lobster roll, and I wanted to eat some kind of fried lobster dish.  Robert's Maine Grill fit the bill.

I ordered the Fried Lobster - fried, beer-battered chunks of lobster.  They were quite tasty, but I felt as if it needed some kind of dipping sauce.

The New England Clam Chowder was the best I've tasted throughout our entire New England road trip.

My husband really liked the Lobster Roll, which he ordered hot buttered (vs mayo).

Kids meals are reasonably-priced, and portions are quite generous.

Robert's Maine Grill is a great spot to dine at if you're craving seafood, especially lobster!
