Little Joe’s Steakhouse Opening Newest Central O‘ahu location April 12 at Pearl Highlands

Grand Opening of new location on April 12

Your favorite family-friendly steakhouse has found a home in central O'ahu at Pearl Highlands.  The grand opening is tomorrow, April 12, and you can expect the same exceptional menu and outstanding service at a reasonable price as Little Joe's original Nimitz location. Little Joe's Steakouse features a classic American steakhouse menu along with island favorites like miso butterfish and seared furikake ahi. They offer a fantastic daily happy hour menu and also have several rooms available for private dining.

Hawaii Mom Blog was invited to enjoy a sneak peek of the newest location right next to Liliha Bakery. I got to sample many of the mains and sides at the media preview and everything was delicious. My favorites were the spinach salad, greek filet mignon, panko crusted chicken, seared furikake ahi, garlic fries, fried rice with steak, and the chocolate lava souffle. I love how kid friendly the happy hour menu is with offerings like steak sliders, cheeseburgers, and fried rice.  Little Joe's serves up great food and friendly service at a great value. Our family loves it! They are open daily from 4:30pm to 10pm with happy hour from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.  Make your reservation here.

Aloha Steak House NOW Open in New Location at the Marine Surf Waikiki

Ribeye and Garlic Shrimp

Gem and I attended a media dinner at the brand new location of Aloha Steak House.  Located in the heart of Waikiki at the Marine Surf Waikiki on Seaside, the new location has a 140 seat capacity, outdoor lanai seating, open-air dining area as well as semi and private rooms.

Aloha Steak House touts itself as a casual steak house and offers a variety of freshly sourced steaks (including three sizes of tomahawk!) and seafood dishes.  There’s also starters and side dishes aplenty as well as a kids’ plate.

We started with the truffle fries, curry calamari frit, fresh oysters, and the iceberg lettuce wedge salad with thick cut bacon.  The truffle is shaven onto your fries right at the table.  It was the first time for me trying a curry seasoned calamari and I really liked it.  Oysters were fresh and delicious and the salad had a nice crunch and lots of blue cheese crumble which I loved.

For our entrees, I had the Demi Cheese Hamburger Steak and Gem ordered the Herb Marinated Grilled Chicken which was huge!  After she was done, it didn’t even look like she made a dent in it.  I, on the other hand, left no signs of my meal behind.  The hamburger steak was tender and paired well with the sauce and creamy cheese.  It was delicious and a good option if you are looking for something lighter than steak.

Side dishes: Bacon & Brussel Sprout, Mac & Cheese, Mashed Potato, and Butter Cheese Corn

If you do opt for steak, Aloha Steak House recommends you to choose one level lower than how you normally like your steak prepared as it comes out on a very hot sizzling plate so your steak will continue to cook.  We finished our meal with the star of the dessert show, the Baked Waikiki – frozen pineapple, ice cream, and popping boba topped with meringue that is lit and then drizzled with hot dark rum.  A very nice finale to a delicious meal!

Aloha Steak House is a part of the Zetton Group; home of great restaurants like Aloha Table, Zigu, natuRe, Goofy, and Heavenly.  And coming soon next door to Aloha Steak House will be a new oyster and wine bar that you won’t want to miss so stay tuned!

Thank you to Aloha Steak House for the amazing meal and super fun night!

Dinner at d.k Steakhouse + Specials for the Holidays!

30 day "Prime" Dry-aged Bone-in Rib Eye Paniolo Style

It's been awhile since I had those famous d.k Steakhouse dry age steaks so I was excited to dine at the restaurant for a media event. Just as we arrived, we were treated to the prettiest sunset! A great reminder that this location would make for a romantic night out.

Ask for an outside table for this gorgeous view!

Located in the Waikiki Beach Marriott, d.k Steahouse was the first on Oahu to dry age their steaks in house using only 100% USA Source Certified Steaks that are all natural, with no growth hormones, no antibiotics, and no steroids. When you dine at d.k Steakhouse, you'll also be able to order menu favorites from Sansei and Vino.

Currently, they are offering holiday cocktail specials that include a delicious Cinnamon Side Car made with brandy, An After Dinner Mint with Bailey's Irish Creme, and hot cocktails like the Green Tea Toddy with hot sake.

We were treated to a variety of salads and appetizers: a new House Salad, Wedge Salad, Breasaola Carpaccio Salad, Blue Crab Dip, Crispy Cauliflower, Bristol Bay Scallops, and the thick cut Nueske Bacon (available only on special). The table's top favorites were the Blue Crab Dip and the Bristol Bay Scallops.

Next, came the decadent dishes of Truffle "Mac and Cheese" and Lobster and Shrimp Mashed Potatoes followed by the Asparagus Milanese, Red Wine Braised Short Ribs, Filet Crab Oscar Style, and the 30 day "Prime" Dry-aged Bone-in Rib Eye. My personal favorites were the Lobster and Shrimp Mashed Potatoes and the Filet Crab Oscar Style, but the house made "paniolo" dry rub on the rib eye was amazing! We finished off this delicious meal with Chef Cherie's Chocolate Crunch Bars that would satisfy any chocolate lover.

Lobster and Shrimp Mashed Potatoes: Sautéed cold water lobster tail & succulent shrimp in a tarragon cream sauce on mashed potatoes

Dinner at Little Joe's Steakhouse

My Mom ready to dig in to her rack of lamb!

My mom requested lamb for her birthday dinner so I decided to look for a family friendly steakhouse and I found Little Joe's Steakhouse. Located on Nimitz Highway, next to Liliha Bakery, Little Joe's is a spacious restaurant with 6 private dining rooms that can accommodate a party of 5 to 50.

Although there is no kids' menu, they allowed us to order a couple of hamburgers off the happy hour menu. The menu is extensive with the most side offerings I have seen and all at reasonable prices.

With the exception of the bacon mac and cheese (we thought it was way too rich) and the cheesecake for two (my daughter did not like it wasn't a traditional cheesecake crust) the food was delicious and we were happy to see miso butterfish on the menu. Service was wonderful and they brought out a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl.  A great choice for any occasion!

Take-Out from Ruth's Chris Steak House

Before this pandemic, the thought of ordering take-out from Ruth's Chris Steak House never crossed my mind.  Although they have resumed dine-in service, we aren't ready to dine-in at restaurants yet.  But I had won a $100 gift card to Ruth Chris that I really wanted to spend, so we ordered take-out for dinner one Sunday evening.

The rib-eye steak was AMAZING! We ordered it medium, since we knew we'd have to heat it up a bit when we got home and didn't want the steak to get overcooked during the reheating process.

The crab cakes also delicious - full of crab and not a lot of fillers in there.

It's definitely a different experience getting take-out vs dining in when it comes to a high-end restaurant like Ruth Chris, but it was actually quite nice to enjoy a juicy, tasty steak and crab cakes in the comforts of my own home.
