When planning our trip to Whistler with our friends, we decided that we didn't want to rent a car to drive ourselves from Vancouver to Whistler.
We didn't want to worry about the two-plus hour drive, getting lost, paying for parking, poor weather, or anything else. All we wanted to do was get to Whistler safely and in comfort.
After doing a lot of research, we decided to hire private transportation through
Perimeter Transportation.
And as soon as our driver, Bill, picked us up at our hotel in Vancouver to take us to Whistler, I knew we had made the right decision.
He arrived in a 24-seat Executive Minibus (an upgrade from the vehicle we originally reserved), complete with reclining seat backs and a DVD entertainment system.

After we all got settled in, we were on our way!
As we drove through Vancouver, Bill became a tour guide, telling us about the city's history, pointing out different landmarks, and even offering suggestions of things to do.
Before long we were on the Sea to Sky Highway, driving past snow-capped mountains and the crystal blue waters.
Our family had driven this highway before, but this time around my husband was able to enjoy the views, since last time he simply had to focus on the road.
Midway through the ride to Whistler we stopped at the Squamish Visitor Centre for a washroom/snack break.

About an hour later, we reached our hotel in Whistler (total time from Vancouver to Whistler was about 2.5 hours, including our stop).
Bill was such an awesome driver! He got us to our destination safely, comfortably, and timely, and he was just so friendly and enthusiastic!
After our experience to Whistler, I knew we would be in good hands with whomever our driver was to go back to Vancouver, but I was secretly hoping we'd get Bill again.
And we did (we were notified a day prior who our driver would be)!
When it was time to leave Whistler, Bill showed up in an 11-passenger Executive Sprinter Van.
Although a lot smaller than the Executive Minibus, the Sprinter Van was still extremely comfortable, and was perfect for our group of 9.
My husband rode in the passenger seat up front with Bill and they talked almost the whole way back to Vancouver, while the rest of us fell asleep after exciting, yet exhausting days in Whistler.
We made a washroom stop at Stanley Park, and as we drove through the beautiful park, once again Bill enlightened us with all sorts of facts about Vancouver.
If you are planning to travel from Vancouver to Whistler, I would highly recommended private transportation with Perimeter Transportation.
We split the cost of the transportation between the two families, and it turned out to be much more economical than if each of our families had rented a vehicle, and paid for parking and gas.
Not only did we save money by hiring Perimeter Transportation, but doing so also saved us from added stress!
We didn't have to navigate the busy roads of Vancouver and worry about getting lost, or worry about driving through poor weather conditions.
All we had to do was show up, sit back and relax.
We left the driving up to Bill, while we rode in comfort and napped, ate, and took lots of pictures.
Bill was fantastic. He showed up early each time, was a safe driver (and fun tour guide!), and took great care of us.
