Blue Note Hawaii

Blue Note Hawaii is located inside the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort and serves as Hawaii’s premier venue for world-renowned artists, from jazz and blues to Hawaiian favorites.  Formerly the Society of Seven showroom, the 9,000 square-foot facility seats over 300 and showcases two performances nightly in an intimate setting - seven days a week, 365 days a year.   Blue Note is also available for private events.

My daughter takes ukulele lessons so I thought it would be fun for her to watch ukulele master, Jake Shimabukuro live.  I love that Blue Note Hawaii features leaders in jazz as well as other musicians including top local artists.

Seating here is first come first serve within your section.  Most shows have 3 tiers: Premium Tables, Loge Tables and Bar.  The Premium tables and booths are closest to the stage; Loge Tables are elevated; and the Bar area is in the upper tier.  All areas have great views of the stage.  Doors open at 5pm for the first set (6:30pm).  Since there were only two of us, we had to share a table with another couple which was fine.

Blue Note Hawaii has a great drink menu as well as food menu.  My daughter loved the salmon with the unagi glaze and I really enjoyed my spinach salad with salmon.  For dessert, we indulged in banana lumpia as well as bread pudding.  The food was excellent as well as the service!  There is a $10 food and beverage minimum per person.

The show was great and the sound was amazing!  We had a wonderful experience and hope to back to check out more shows.

Validated parking ($6) for up to 4 hours is available at the Ohana East Hotel. No dress code.  Open to all ages, but no seating of minors in bar area.  Fully ADA compliant.

Hawaii Food & Wine Festival's Apres Yoga: After Savasana, There is Sake Event

On Saturday morning, pouring rain did not stop several dozen women and men from attending the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival's TY KU Presents Apres Yoga: After Savasana, There is Sake Event.

Originally to have taken place on the beach outside of Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, the event was moved indoors after attendees signed in and were given a yoga mat, towel, and water.

Although I never took a yoga class and have only done yoga videos, I was excited to attend the session led by CorePower Yoga Hawaii instructor, Juri Edwards.

Center: Juri Edwards, Graham Elliot
A nice mix of yoga newbies, including Famed Chef Graham Elliot (who joked how his yoga "v-card" was being taken away"), as well as yoga enthusiasts, filled the lobby of the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.

It was nice to see Juri so excited not only about being able to conduct the class for the inaugural yoga + sake event, but also to share her passion about yoga, and the benefits yoga can have on one's life.

After an hour's worth of Child's Poses, Mountain Poses, Downward Dogs, and Warrior Poses, while focusing on my breathing, posture, and my body in general, I worked up a good sweat, and I was proud of myself for getting through the entire class (with just a couple of "breaks to take media photos").  I thought it was a great class, and I was ready to unwind with snacks and TY KU Sake Cocktails.

Lotus Lemonade Cocktail (made with TY KU Cucumber, TY KU Soju, Lemonade, Mint) + Hula Grill Waikiki's Lychee Bowl (made with House Made Mac Nut Granola, Fresh Rambutan, Mango, Papaya, Dragon Fruit, Starfruit, Christmas Berry Manoa Honey, Toasted Coconut)

The Apres Yoga: After Savasana, There is Sake Event was a great way to get your zen on and indulge without the guilt!

Thank you to the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival for hosting my admission.
