Babes Bakery

A friend gave me a bag full of treats from Babes Bakery. As a lover of bread and carbs, I was really excited to check out what was in the bag!

Mooncakes (only available during the Mid Autumn Festival in September), Ube dinner rolls, steakhouse rolls, and guava bars.

Just look at the color of the ube diner rolls!

My favorite of them all was the guava bars - they are made with FRESH guava - you can taste the freshness.

You can find Babes Bakery at 808 Craft and Gift Fairs every third Saturday of the month at Koko Marina Center. Follow them on Instagram (@babes_bakery) for updates.

Wild Tiki Fun Zone

Complimentary games and Gelati were provided by our sponsor. All opinions are my own.

Planning a kid's birthday party or just looking for some indoor fun? Head on over to Wild Tiki Fun Zone. They have two locations on Oahu (Hawaii Kai and Iwilei), and they both have something fun for everyone of  ALL ages!

Gem and I were invited to bring our families to the Hawaii Kai location to check out the offerings at this location, and we all had a blast.

Wild Tiki is located in Koko Marina Center, next to the theaters. Just look for the glass windows and doors to the left of the theaters. It's easy to find and there is ample parking for customers of the shopping center (although it does tend to get busy, especially on weekends).

Upon entering the Fun Zone, immediately to your left you'll see Rita's Italian Ice.  More on that later ...

Wild  Tiki has a great layout of classic and modern arcade games, that keep both the kids and adults  happy and entertained.

Once we received our arcade cards, we were ready to play!

virtual bowling

skeeball

fishing

ball drop

air hockey

air hockey

horse racing

race car driving

 space invaders

shooting

virtual coaster
spin and win

Some of the games give out tickets (which are loaded onto your card automatically).

Tickets can be redeemed for prizes - check out the goods!

About an hour into our experience, the 9 of  us checked out the laser tag.  My family were newbies at laser tag, so we really had to pay attention to the video that they showed prior to our game.

Locked and loaded.

It didn't take very long for us to get the hang of it, and for the boys to get into it!

Daniel kept trying to zap Aunty Gem. :D

Wild Tiki also has a sports simulator which has at least 11 different sports games on it. We didn't get to try it but I did see someone playing golf on it.

Wild Tiki has private rooms for birthday parties, corporate events, school field trips, etc.

The Cafe has a small but tasty menu of kid-friendly food items such as hotdogs, pizza, nuggets, etc.  Believe me, game playing does work up an appetite!

Which is why it's so nice to have Rita's Italian Ice and Frozen treats right on-site!

We were each treated to a mini Gelati with our choice of flavor of Italian ice, each topped with Rita's famous frozen custard.

I was told lemon was one of the most popular Italian ice flavors, so the boys and I tried it, and it was  delicious and so refreshing! It was the perfect pick-me-up after two hours of non-stop fun. If you are planning a party here, I would highly recommend adding these frozen treats to your party package - they're really good and the perfect size.

Wild Tiki has a lot of specials  (especially on the weekdays!) and packages going on right now - check out their website for the details.

We all had a blast at Wild Tiki Fun Zone, and  my boys have already talked about wanting to have their next birthday party here!

Kokonuts Shave Ice & Snacks

Usually if we are nearby the Koko Marina Center, we'll get ice cream at Bubbies if we want a sweet treat, but recently we decided to check out Kokonuts Shave Ice & Snacks.

Fruit Punch and Raspberry

Rainbow

Strawberry and Cherry
Kokonuts offers ice cream, acai bowls, bubble drinks, ice cream, and more, but all of my kids opted for shave ice.

For a small ($3), only two flavors can be chosen, unless you opt for a Rainbow.  You can add all sorts of extra toppings for a fee (ice cream, mochi balls, etc.).

The shave ice had lots of holes in them - the employee didn't do a great job of packing the shave ice in very well.

Despite that, the boys loved it, and it was the perfect cool treat for a very hot day.

Lunch with the Family at Gokoku Sushi

I was really impressed with the food when I attend a preview dinner at Gokoku Sushi, so I was eager to dine there again with my family.

California Roll
Curry Udon Set
Kid's Bento Box
Misoyaki Hawaiian Fish Teishoku
Desserts
I had the Curry Udon Set, which also included Chicken Karaage, Inari, Mini Salad and Fukujinzuke. All of that food (including dessert) for just $16.50! Every single dish in the set was delicious. I even shared food with my husband and kids and I still took home leftovers! The Chicken Karaage was some of the best I've had anywhere, and the Curry Udon was really delicious.

There is only one kids option available - a Bento Box for $9.50, and I was impressed with how much food there was! Included in the Bento Box was Udon, Chicken Karaage & Fries, Inari Sushi & Tamago.

Each of the meals came with specific desserts. The kids bento box came with ice cream; my husband's meal (the fish teishoku) came with an acai bowl; my meal came with yokan.

The one thing that I felt could have been improved upon was the amount of time it took for someone to acknowledge us once seated. We were seated immediately (I made reservations), but it took nearly ten minutes (that's quite a long time to be waiting!) for our server to come to our table. I was literally telling my husband we needed to ask someone if we'd be helped when our server finally came to our table.

Our friendly server did thank us for waiting, and throughout the meal the service did get better.

Despite the initial lapse in service, I really enjoyed dining at Gokoku Sushi. It's a great place to have lunch with family. The prices are reasonable (prices have dropped since they opened), the portions are generous, and the food is really delicious!

Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream & Desserts - Koko Marina Center

We've been finding ourselves at the Koko Marina Center a lot lately, and whenever we're there we almost always stop at Bubbies Homeade Ice Cream & Desserts.

Pumpkin

Strawberry

Chocolate

Chocolate Graham Swirl

As usual, everyone enjoyed their ice creams.

I had the Chocolate Graham Swirl, and although there seemed to be very little graham cracker syrup swirled into the ice cream, when I did get bites of the syrup, it was very, very good.

Can't wait to go back to try out new flavors!

Moena Cafe

Since we were in the area, our family decided to have lunch at Moena Cafe.
Hawaiian Omelette

Keiki Pancakes

Chicken Panini Sandwich
I had the Chicken Panini Sandwich, which was quite good. The chicken, spinach, provolone, and garlic aioli combined to make a tasty sandwich.

My husband had the Hawaiian Omelette, which consisted of kalua pig, green onions, cheese, and onions. He enjoyed it.

My kids ate up all of their pancakes, and I thought they were a good deal for just $4.

Overall I thought the food was good and the service friendly, but very slow - it took 10 minutes for our server to greet us (I was watching the time on my phone) - I was ready to approach the manager to find out where our server was. Throughout the rest of the meal the service was just as slow.

However, I would give them another try, and hopefully the next time service will be much better.
