Kaya's Store

While driving around the island, we drove past Kaya's Store in Hauula.  I've driven past numerous times before, but for the first time, we stopped in.

This convenience store, which has been around for more than 75 years, offers general goods, as well as lots of snacks.  It even has an in-store kitchen offering plate lunches.

The kids each got a drink, and after seeing so many people come in and buy SPAM Musubis, we encouraged the kids to get musubis as well.

I couldn't resist getting some banana bread made by Traci's Sweet Treats.  It was so moist and fluffy!

The staff members at Kaya's Store were so friendly.

We'd definitely stop by again if we are in the area.

Breakfast at Papa Ole's Kitchen

Papa Ole's Kitchen is a very popular dining spot in Hauula, drawing both visitors and locals alike.

We ate there once for lunch and enjoyed it, and on our most recent visited we ordered breakfast.

Full Stack Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Ham and Cheese Omelette with Hash Browns

We arrived at Papa Ole's at about 8:15am, and there was a bunch of people eating outside, as well as standing in line. The food did take a while to get to us - almost 30 minutes.

We all enjoyed our food, however, and portions were gigantic.  The 5 of us shared the pancakes and the omelette.

The omelette was enormous and stuffed with lots of ham and cheese.  The pancakes were huge too - they were light, fluffy, and cake-like!

Papa Ole's is a great spot for breakfast - just be prepared to wait if there's a lot of people, and most likely there will be!

Papa Ole's Kitchen - North Shore Day Trip Stop #3

After spending some time at Kokololio Beach, we drove just a very short distance down the street to have lunch at Papa Ole's Kitchen.

Garlic Chicken - Very tasty!
Hamburger Steak with Brown Gravy - they give two large hamburger patties.  My husband said it was delicious!
Papa Ole's is quite popular - when we arrived there was a very long line.

There are only a few tables inside, but there are several large picnic-style benches outside.

The food was GREAT, the portions were LARGE, and I definitely recommend stopping by for some lunch if you're in the area!
