Visit Chicago: Luke's Italian Beef

We were looking for a quick and casual spot to grab an early lunch, but not too many places were open before 11am.

Thankfully, after some searching online, I found Luke's Italian Beef.

They are known for Italian Beef sandwiches, as one would guess, but they also offer a variety of popular Chicago and fast-casual menu items.

Personal Pepperoni Pizza

I ordered the Personal Pepperoni Pizza, because I was on a mission to try as many Chicago Deep Dish Pizzas that I could while in Chicago, just so I could compare.

I thought the pizza was great, and I even thought a single slice of the personal pizza was filling (I could only finish 1 slice while the rest of the fam helped me eat the rest).

The personal size takes 30 minutes to bake, and I was totally okay waiting for it, but I didn't realize the rest of the fam would have to wait for their order too.  But everyone waited patiently, and we all left Luke's full and happy.

Visit Chicago: Giordano's at The Curragh Irish Pub

Many people said a must-try Chicago deep dish pizza spot is Giordano's.  So we googled one that was not too far from our hotel, and also one that was not too busy.

Turns out, the one we found was take-out only, but the adjacent restaurant, The Curragh Irish Pub, offers Giordano's pizzas on their menu (they also offer food from another adjacent restaurant - Que Onda Mexican Restaurant). and there was no wait for a table!

Since deep dish pizzas take a long time to cook, we ordered a couple of items to start:

Cobb Salad
The Cobb Salad was pretty huge, topped with grilled chicken avocado, eggs, tomatoes, red onions, and bacon.  We all enjoyed it.

Black N Tan Onion Rings

The Guinness Beer-battered onion rings were good, but they were a bit under-seasoned.

And finally, the pizza...

Chicago Classic
The Chicago Classic was stuffed (and I mean STUFFED) with pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, and onions.

A single deep dish slice is more than enough for a meal.

The pizza was good, although I did think the crust was a little too thin to hold all the ingredients stuffed in the middle.

We were all happy with the pizza, and even happier we didn't need to wait for a table!
